Re: The importance of honouring our needs.
Byron Katie's 'The Work' is one method of inquiry. You can watch videos of her on youtube, check her website and even check our her books for more info. I think if you answer the questions in your paragraph above you might find a lot of good things to question during inquiry. For example, 'i have ne...

Re: The importance of honouring our needs.
I think that's a pretty good reply, rideforever. :) I read your link, jayakanth. I think it makes some nice points but I see things differently. For me in my experience, I always used to look for fulfillment and also for myself in other people. That put me in a difficult position because I wasn't in...

Re: Are these words by Adyashanti true in your experience?
I saw Adyashanti speak in person and while I could be wrong about all this, at the time I felt that I felt positive energy that sprang from him out all around him. Even as I drove there I started to notice and feel this energy and it got stronger and stronger as I approached and entered the place wh...

Re: How can we accept heavy diseases ?
I hope this doesn't sound flippant because I don't mean it that way. The first thing that popped into my head when I read your post was, 'do we really have any choice? What is the other option?' Well, IME, the other option is to not accept things the way they are and to feel upset inside along with ...

Re: On Krishnamurthi : Fragmentation
When you ask what to do now do you mean if you are in a similar situation again where you become self conscious? I think what you did was very good--you observed your discomfort and were conscious of it. I think you can continue to do this in any future experiences you may have like that. I like to ...

Re: Problem with dating
On a related note to this, what is self esteem? And do I have to bother trying to improve my self esteem? Doesent self esteem imply a self image? What i have realized that my self image has improved because of cold approach. When i first started out, it was dreadful. I felt most of my approaches we...

Re: Problem with dating
I did not read the whole thread but I would recommend a few things. One is listening. I am working on that myself. :) What I find is that most people like people who are good at listening. To me listening is a spiritual thing because it means I'm not trying to do something. I'm present and enjoying ...

Re: Am I trying too hard to get into the Now
I think you got some great replies already. :) It sounds like you want to 'achieve being in the NOW' in order to have this super intelligence in order to do everything to the best possible level. This sounds to me like ego wanting to use the NOW to increase itself and that is not what living in the ...

Re: Tragedy in CT
I feel very sad about it but I also can't let myself think about it all the time. I don't mean sticking my head in the sand about it. What I mean is that as I"m sure you see, the media is going to publish and televise every tiny detail, details we don't need to know, details that only serve to feed ...

Re: Is this a faith-based belief?
I would suppose that him saying that comes from experiences he had that he talks about in the start of TPON but does not go into much detail about. So, it isn't something faith based and isn't something he is going to be able to prove scientifically, either.

Re: How do you deal with unpleasant feelings
I watch them and see how my body feels as a result of them. I accept them or try to accept them or I accept that I can't accept them at the moment. I like Cognitive Behavior Therapy's approach to dealing with them which is quite similar if not the same, only a bit more formalized. You might want to ...

free book from Adjashanti
Did anyone else get the free book from Adyashanti in the mail? I got one unexpectedly yesterday from him--about 50 or so pages long. Looks good so far. I was surprised by it, though, as you usually don't get free things, you know?

Re: A rationalist and his difficulties w/ Tolle
I'm not sure whether my reply will be helpful in any way but here goes...I have felt as you do about other spiritual teachers, but not about Tolle. But because of this I think I can relate to what you are saying. There are other authors I have read and while I liked much of what they said my mind fo...

Re: How often do you go back to Eckharts books
I re-read TPON and Stillness Speaks multiple times. I had a harder time with A New Earth. ET has a picture book of flowers with quotes by him and Byron Katie that I really loved. I haven't been re-reading his books for some time now but that picture book's quotes were like some of the best of both E...
