Re: Ego vs misunderstanding

I find ET's pointers in A New Earth really helpful to determine which it is, but that doesn't always mean that others in the conflict situation will understand or even be able to feel the difference. - if we are making an enemy, an obstacle, or a means to an end of a person, thing or situation... >...

Re: Ego vs misunderstanding

I believe the answer is yes and no.. Yes if you understand that in a discussion/argument you will always need your ego or mind to show your thoughts about the subject you both are talking about. And no if by ego you mean that is the moment when the person loses the presence to the mind and start to...

Ego vs misunderstanding

Is ego always at play when one is ion conflict, or could this just be a lack of knowledge, skills, cognitive capabilities, brain development, perspective, ect? Example: Two people are in an argument. One person is ego driven to fight for their sense of self worth and the other is just confused and c...

Re: What would happen if you didn’t listen to your mind at all?

There is a difference between listening to your mind and needing to do what your mind tells you what to do. If you have to work in order to have money so you can survive or you have to take care of another life, even a cats, then you need to do as such. So yes, if you didn't do what your mind was te...

Re: To anyone lost, read this, my life from 40yrs of being lost to now!

Very nice. That's great tchest77. Causes me to remember when I first read Tolle. I'm so thankful for his writing inviting another way to see besides tail-chasing suffering. :D Absolutely, I can't believe how we are as humans, just wanting to feel important and protected, crazy. But, it's a blessing...

Re: To anyone lost, read this, my life from 40yrs of being lost to now!

What a great post, tchest77. There was much I could relate to. I remember when I was quite young feeling that same connection to everything around me, always simply being present. The shift away from that came when I was in 2nd grade and my mother became quite ill and I became consumed with worry. ...

To anyone lost, read this, my life from 40yrs of being lost to now!

All I can say is, I found myself, well, the self I always had, but it's weird cause I specifically remember this sense of self at a very young age, around 8-9 years old, and then all of a sudden at age 10-11 this sense of self got attached to everything, friends, video games, girls, fun, ect; I lost...

Re: How can I not be selfish or should I do what I feel?

I have come to this place now with understanding my dissatisfaction in something or anyone. My post began with me not being happy in my relationship, as my girlfriend has anxiety issues. I went on to explain that I am learning that my emotions are my responsibility and to not blame another for how I...

Re: Besides Ego, could this explain why we are?

And I hope you and your family, and everyone out there is doing well. Thank you. Same to you! :D I feel like one one side I can be emotional or in thoughts, considering this to be "myself" and on the other side I can be more self-aware seeing it all but not being any of it. I feel like being in the...

Re: Besides Ego, could this explain why we are?

I keep getting stuck in being emotionless when I believe emotion is important. I can't say anything about this because I've never been "stuck in being emotionless." Maybe someone else on this site has been there, though, and can help you out with that one? First, thank you so much! Even at a time l...

Re: Besides Ego, could this explain why we are?

Please give any guidance or opinion on my confusion with one of my forms if possible. In my opinion, I think you did a good job of pinning down and labeling these forms that arise in you. :) I also see these forms arising in myself from time to time. Forms 1 and 3 seem to be what I would call your/...

Re: Besides Ego, could this explain why we are?

Are 1 and 3 forms of ego? Is 2 a part of my consciousness? Are they all forms of ego? None of these 4 forms (or any other ones for that matter) are who you really are. You are the ever-present Awareness in which these forms (or any forms) temporarily appear. If you identify with any of these forms,...

Re: Besides Ego, could this explain why we are?

Thanks and interesting point in not having freedom of choice. Are you referring to the fact that because there is a choice, the choice that suits us best or being able to see that there is a choice still satisfies something, whereas this satisfaction is not freedom at all because it is still fulfill...

Re: Besides Ego, could this explain why we are?

I understand, no problem. I know who I am is about me when I am reacting. When I can be still observing this reactivity, I can then have a choice or choose to do nothing. My sense of who I am is just trying to get a better understanding of what is going on behind the scenes of who I am. Thank you fo...
