Re: Coffee Drinking and Enlightenment (A Survey)

Used to like coffee, but drank it to escape feeling discontent/bored/etc... Not a problem anymore, but now my body has become coffee intolerant instead! stomach goes into spasm, so I guess no more coffee for me. Tend to drink mostly water, and for a change will drink redbush (rooibos) tea, or pepper...

Re: Tolle to teach on Oprah.com

My connection has gone now, it lasted about 30mins which was good considering the site said over 750,000 people have registered!
Would love to know how the web servers are doing tonight

Think I will watch the rest in the archive :D

Re: dissolving painbody successes?

WhatsInAName:

Yes I think Eckhart was unusual in that his pain body dissolved all at once. But where is the fun in that

For the rest of us it is probably a gradual process (in clock time anyway). Enjoy the journey!

Re: dissolving painbody successes?

I think i've been working on my pain body for about 4 1/2 years, ever since I discovered the power of now in the book shop. It hasn't gone yet, but I feel a lot more alive as I have reclaimed so much energy that was trapped in my pain body :) For me it has been the greatest teacher, as you could say...

Re: Smoking!!!

Eckhart said that it's hard to quit smoking, as the mind imagines the willpower needed for the days/months/years/lifetime to come! He said if you narrow it down, you are only not smoking today. And when tomorrow comes, you are only not smoking then... Or you are not smoking now. Not the imagined fut...

Re: The Secret vs. Ekchart???

I would recommend "living a life of inner peace" by Eckhart, for anyone who is interested in the secret/law of attraction. It is a very funny talk, and he mentions playing with the world of form, and getting things like houses and cars. I just love this talk! http://www.eckharttolle.com/store/index....

Thanks for all the amazing replies, it all seems a bit clearer now.

It is amazing what the ego can latch onto, and make into a problem!

Thanks

So if "I" have done something in the past that I now feel ashamed/bad about...

Am I to watch that arising within consciousness?

Doing "bad" things

If someone does a "bad" thing, let's say speeds on the road, steals a bit of money, lies to someone, who is actually doing that?

Is that the ego? Cause afterwards there may be guilt or questioning of the actions.

Is presence involved?

If no-one is really there, who is doing these "bad" deeds?

I too saw Eckhart in London, and found it a great experience.

He went into the topic of death, mentioning seeing his father's coffin going into the ground, and how fleeting all forms are.

Also got a chance to see Kim Eng in Bristol, she is another amazing teacher, and likes to laugh too!
