Re: What are we?

There are many approaches to meditation, but in my opinion whatever you find simplest/easiest is the best for you to begin with. You can always try something else if you don't find one effective in settling the mind's activity if you've been practicing something for a while, but whatever you choose ...

Re: A more simple understanding of awareness/presence

Another great post, Nyseto. Presence is here now, and now is the only "place"/time reality can exist and it's always now. Not being noticed doesn't mean it isn't here. That pesky noisy "me" that's looking for it only gets in the way of its realization. If you/ego are looking for something it's assum...

Re: High functioning Autism and enlightment

I echo Webwander's recommendation of Stillness Speaks. You might want to get the audio version as well. The way Tolle reads it has a way of allowing presence to blossom quite naturally. Just listen with more attention given to the pauses than trying to figure out the meaning of the words. Edited to ...

Re: A more simple understanding of awareness/presence

I'm surprised to be posting this but I just had to because of what I noticed in my own experience which led to a much better understanding of what this forum is all about-so this may be of help for some. The more simple things are kept in terms of spirituality, the easier it is to understand. These...

Re: religious beliefs

if true self is 100% whole and complete why would a person choose to "believe"?... from the pov of awareness everything is just like it should be no matter what does or does not happen..aren't "beliefs" what create the false self?..please share. From the point of view of awareness everything is jus...

Re: Ramana Maharshis Who am I? I need help understanding it

My questions about the nature of the Self is basically is it just pure Awareness? It is the substratum in which all objects appear in it, it is formless and cannot be located? What you fundamentally are is formless pure Awareness. But if so, this body we all take to be ourselves or identify with in...

Re: Awakening

Thanks for sharing, Alicia. The account of your experience is good food for others to imbibe. Once one has a direct experience the teachings of others becomes clarified and deeply meaningful. Following my first foray into meditation in 1973 I came across the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti and a few...

Well said, WW. It's a subtle but very important point, and I really like the way you phrased it to make the distinction.

Re: Hello, seeking awakening !

Welcome to the forum, Bryan. Stillness Speaks is my favorite Tolle book, but I think listening to it is even better than reading it. Let the words wash over you as he speaks without struggling to understand the concepts, and use the frequent pauses in narration to just rest. At some point you will n...
