Re: What do we know about the self

Hello Snowheight, Sorry for the late reply. The double slit is more mysterious. If you do the measurement experiment after the slit, the interference pattern will not be observed. This means that the photon is changed back in time to go through one of the slits. What is data recording? A measurement...

Re: What do we know about the self

Hi snowheight, here is a ten-minute extract from that talk that's about 2/5's of the way into it. This part of the lecture is about as scientific as it can get in that Campell delivers the most cogent explanation of the double-slit experiment I've ever seen, and unlike other physicists he doesn't pu...

Re: What do we know about the self

Hi All,

The video of cambell I saw it for 1/2 hour. For me he is not very scientific.

A video with a little bit more scientific value, but again statistiscally and we do not understand why. There is no good theory. The extended mind
google lectures.

Re: What do we know about the self

Hello Ananda, Independent observations of the I are of course not possible. But for me scientific results are important. Some people find it strange to have this topic in a general discussion, so I will end this by my appraisal for the teachings of Echart. We know so little about the brain and the i...

Re: What do we know about the self

Hi All, Thanks for the reaction. I want to believe their is more, but if science result are for me an important. Re: Quieting the mind

A good post. I have some remarks. Most of our thought is recurring, not necessary and perhaps leading about future events which will never occur. Some people say 95 % is reduntant. Stilling the mind by meditation is perhaps a method which good result that you use your thought processes more efficien...

Re: experiences in vipassana meditation

Thanks for the reactions, I am trying out the aro meditation good idea. About controlling thoughts, I agree that you should notice them and not trying hard to subdue them. Of course you should also notice if it is a recurring thought. And notice that the recurring thought is possibly a question. It ...

Re: Should I Read The Fall by Steve Taylor?

Hello, After reading the fall i also red making of time. The steve taylor site on the web you can see that he also writes poems about these subjects. I really think he has good point about the real reason (our ego change ) that we behave so separate and the reason for war and cruelty. And that certa...

experiences in vipassana meditation

Hello, A number of years i am allready a fan of echart tolle, but it is very difficult to keep focus on stilling the mind and living in the moment. The thoughts take you over without you knowing it. I have some interrest in a vipassana course (10 days meditation 10 hours a day in complete silence), ...

Re: freedom of will

Hi Astaroth, What bramaneternal is saying is very wise (kind) and right to the point. My background is theoretical. Take the opposite conclusion Their is no free will if future and past are fixed and static. This is not the case, because : 1) Their is no absolute time according to physics. 2) Time i...

Re: freedom of will

Hi Astoroth, The brain, matter and energy are not creating your conscience experience. The conscience is independent of the world and is creating the world around you, it can express itself through you. The conscience is the real me and eternal (time-less). That is why we can have a free will, becaus...
