The food was poor

That probably says it all. With all the talk of being first in that, new in this etc. and didn't get the food right at the cafe.
Haw! Nailed it.

Re: Wild Wild Country

I get what you’re saying. It’s definitely a cult of personality. As soon as you become a guru, and that is a contract you enter volitionally, all kind of things are projected onto you by your followers and in essence you become trapped in those projections. Wild, wild country shows this trajectory r...

Re: Wild Wild Country

Caihong, There were allegations toward the end of the documentary that he was on drugs given by his personal physician.....so I guess ‘legal’ ones. Kiki, he may have been a good philosopher, but he definitely made some bad personal choices, especially about who was running his organization, Sheela! ...

Re: Apathy

I feel you Niki.....looking back I would say all my suffering had a purpose, to at least motivate me to keep up the search. This may be revisionist and sound a bit saccharine, but I think it’s true. But it’s no fun when you are in the middle of it! I feel that if I could find some peace and an end t...

Re: Apathy

It’s a misunderstanding (and a probable cause of apathy) to think that we must somehow systematically diminish our ego (and by ego, modern teachings are often referring to your personality/character and its interests.) This is simply about the realisation of a deeper reality beyond the identificati...

Re: Apathy

I have felt the same way jukai describes.....apathetic and suspicious of my motives for the spiritual search; a defense mechanism against a frightening world. I also agree with WW in that there is another side to apathy and we can go through it to something else. The ‘something else’ for me is a str...

Re: Wild Wild Country

Hi Carl, I don’t know about the ET reference, unfortunately this may apply to a number of spiritual communities. I thought it a timely comment on our current xenophobia about anything different, immigrants, etc. the community and Osho were definitely on to something but imploded in a spectacular man...

Re: Apathy

Do you keep a journal? You’re a good writer. Write through it. I find it helpful in seeing changes and subtle trends and also in releasing what’s on my mind and heart.

(I think you should flip off everything)

Re: Apathy

I would say you’re in a good spot to transition to The next thing, a different direction.....and it may be spiritual. Condolences regarding your husbands death. I think these are times that can open us or close us, or maybe a little of both. My mother died around four years ago, then my mother in la...

Re: Apathy

Hi Nikki, I’ve been in your shoes.....actually lived many years in this state. What jumped out at me was your wish to forget you ever knew about ET & Barry Long. Let’s throw in all the other spiritual teachers, right? I think this is a good instinct. Things really changed for me when I finally reali...

Re: Regret unconcious decisions

I don’t have much wisdom for others but I have become somewhat wise about my own life....I searched for enlightenment for thirty years, gave it my best shot, and it wasn’t until I gave up that I started living fearlessly, without regret, and without suffering. Enlightenment wasn’t what I thought it ...
