Re: Awake! Handbook of Awkakening (free ebook) - Kim Katami

Thus the best approach, as I see it, is to find a way to highlight our own self-based reactions, looking into the samsaric mind while being grounded in a gradually deepened experience of the natural state. That way we avoid spiritual bypassing while deconstructing the whole selfing-mechanism until ...

Re: Tolle Criticism

It’s been so long since I read PON that I tend to forget how preachy it was. Even compared to ANE. In 1999, there were few modern nondual writers working. Welwood’s “Toward a Psychology of Awakening” was just released in 1999, too. And that watershed has been breached many times since. Like all of u...

Re: Tolle Criticism

Certainly the path of awakening can be challenging. Middleman's comments are valid (welcome, by the way.) ET's exhortation to "just be present" isn't really enough to deal with some of life's challenges moment-to-moment. It is important to remember that he had the luxury of sitting on a park bench f...

Re: Awake! Handbook of Awkakening (free ebook) - Kim Katami

tashi -

"Doership" can be a sticking point for some traditions. Who is it that experiences the 13 bhumis? Who is it that meditates? Who is it that eats? If the "little me" self is dissolved, who does anything?

tashi -

Rick Archer began interviewing spiritual teachers about 15 years ago at batgap.com. He is a friend and I encouraged him to chat with Kim, who had already been recommended.

Thank you for introducing a Finn to the mix!

Re: Awake! Handbook of Awkakening (free ebook) - Kim Katami

Thanks, tashi and welcome. I downloaded KK's newer book and am reading it - well-prepared and granular. He has an interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW3Owt9mF0o Katani's source material is Dzogchen, Tibetan Buddhism. Using a simple technique or reading a book might offer the first bhumi...

Re: Should I let go of my ego 'friend'?

Hi rp - It seems your ego is sending the same message as before, which is "you are not enough." Now it has simply added 'not perfect' to that fundamental message. Recognized apart from nondual teachings, "perfection" in human activity is impossible. Excellence is possible, and 'perfectly' enjoyable....

Re: Can anyone help me, please?

Warring with reality is a recipe for misery. It's a choice. If you make that choice and hold fast to it, you will suffer. It's up to you.

Re: Precognition

Jen - Glad you liked Radin - there was a funny Oprah episode (in her old show) with a fundamentalist Christian and Radin...things got rather tense and funny. I met him at a SAND conference - very approachable...get in touch with him. Always a pleasure to chat with you, and thanks always for your hel...

Re: Why no sublime sense of Depth and Being?

Jonski - What an interesting question. That was not my experience, so I can only speculate. A few nondual teachers refer to The Witness as a stage in development. If your experience is what they would define as The Witness, okay - but I have no suggestions how one "gets past" that. Possibly ETs leve...

Re: how do I remain present while being with my memories?

Fiona - Thanks for joining, for sure. The nondual community can always use good writers. I worry in a small way that you will judge your past harshly from your new perspective. "Oh, if I were only so wise as I am now," gets old pretty fast. Joan Collins' autobiography "Past Imperfect," still reads p...

Re: Precognition

Jac O'Keeffe spoke in October at the SAND conference about psychic abilities. She had them and they confused her before her awakening. I've had many synchronous experiences. I think that latent powers increase with Presence...they are a form of siddhi. Dean Radin has a book out on this: http://www.d...

Re: how do I remain present while being with my memories?

Welcome Fiona - You will enjoy a relatively new book by John Prendergast titled "In Touch." JP is a counseling psychologist and spiritual teacher. He touches on this and other useful perspectives. If you are worrying about "not being Present enough" to write your book, and worrying about your experi...

Re: Unbiased observer

Welcome Unbiased observer - May I requote Jean Klein, from "In Touch" by John Prendergast: "Do not fornicate with the witness." Klein makes the point that becoming attached to an identity as a separate witness is a trap common to long-time meditators who can sit in observation of their thoughts. Pre...
