Re: A quote

Welcome jurassic! He has made that sort of comment many times. For a specific reference, please try the official Tolle website / organization... at eckharttolle.com. (We do not have a formal relationship with them.) I assume you have read his two books, The Power of Now and A New Earth...worthy of y...

Re: Awakening, Ego and Soul

Thanks, Smiileyjen, for the fascinating experiences! I don't know anything about ghosts or apparitions, but surely don't rule them out.

Re: Awakening, Ego and Soul

Thanks, rt, as ever! The relatively recent discovery of dark matter and dark energy provide a potential repository explanation for "stuff we don't see"...maybe. A larger question is multiple universes, including ones that are created by quantum events (Google ' many worlds theory.') Way above my pay...

Re: Awakening, Ego and Soul

Thanks, Turiya. I am more and more convinced that a spiritual entity survives death of the body. And that it reincarnates.

Awakening, Ego and Soul

In 2008, following 34 years of practicing TM, and other spiritual studies, I had a life-changing experience in which I recognized that the entire concept of “me” was gravely deficient. My egoic identity became a provisionally unique identity with meaning only in the perceived relative world. The exp...

Re: Is Eckhart FULLY realized?

Nice quote. We do have a provisional, local identity, also labelled as a 'personality.' The nondual resistance to 'doership' is part of the 'free will' argument, and there are legitimate arguments on both sides. Awakening does not mean then end of a relative identity as "little me," but rather a rec...

Deep Heart by John Prendergast

As a follow-up to "In Touch," Prendergast has given us another splendid, wide-ranging tour of the "Heart-level" experience of pure awareness. This book is filled with DIY exercises, but touches on a number of topics not normally associated with nonduality such as the soul, developmental trauma and h...

Re: Question about being present

Hi fromthesount! The discovery of Presence is both wonderful and challenging. Your question is very valid. For the next year or so, just consider "entering presence" as a sadhana, or active spiritual practice that you can do when you choose and do not have to do all the time. "Coming from presence" ...

Re: Ego Vs Personality

Thanks, E2B. It's hard to believe I wrote that almost 8 years ago. I see I did suggest that personality is a valid collection of styles, habits of being. I guess it is a way of not stigmatizing the observed relative self in action and reflection. But the experience of the Absolute is very nonlocal. ...

Re: Ego Vs Personality

Egos exist - they are only "disastrous" if you do not accept that fact. Personalities are different, egos often conflict. Egos developed about 7,500 years ago according to Gary Weber. Here is a sample of his blogpost: http://happinessbeyondthought.blogspot.com/2018/05/self-inquiry-vs-egosis-how-it-w...

Re: Ego Vs Personality

Welcome axetenuz!

I completely agree that egoic excesses have had disastrous consequences, even today, for sure, and not harmless. This is an Eckhart Tolle forum, so I try to use his thinking as a starting point.
