Re: What Am I - What Are You?

Thanks for this post, Albert. The classical paradox of "am I unique or is everything one?" has a "both/and" element: yes you are unique and yes everything is one (nondual). The art of living well is to embrace that paradox. There is Brahman and there is atman. The wave is part of the ocean. Form is ...

Great comment, Louis - I also highly recommend that book! Awakening does not mean losing responsibility in the relative world, which includes the world of feelings.

Re: Eckhart Tolle approach and friendships with others

Welcome Yenala! Big issue - and not well discussed by many, including Adyashanti. A powerful glimpse of the new identity as "Pure Awareness," not egoic 'little me,' can make people drop away from their normal ego-identity-based relationships. It's a form of "spiritual bypassing" (See John Welwood on...

Re: How to Soren surrender to the now

Welcome Hockey66! Of course you can't observe anything you are not aware of. By "unconscious," ET means "not awake." By "not awake" he means unevolved and ego-driven. The ego resists almost everything - it sees most events as threats. He asks us to simply be aware when an egoic reflex arises...to be...

Re: Grateful to have found this forum

Welcome WatcherLK: My wife was born in Dublin, although we both now live in the US, in Washington State. I had a big awakening experience about 12 years ago and was a bit silly, sending copies of PON to people like old professors from uni, and good friends - sort of saying "hey this is real, it happ...

Re: Humility and Awakening

From the absolute (paramarthika) level of reality which is Brahman, nothing ever happened--there is no world to speak of--only consciousness. So no 'experience' can take place at this level (even though Brahman is self effulgent). So, if I may rephrase, at the absolute, there is only consciousness,...

Re: Humility and Awakening

Thanks, RT and Jen!! I'm going to spin off a bit here: These inner subjective realities will disappear after our particular mind/body/sense complex ceases to exist. Yes, in theory. Of course after the mind/body/sense complex ceases to exist, there won't be any m/b/sc to report out to those surviving...

Hmm....

So, before we were aware of dark matter, did it exist?

Re: Should I let go of my ego 'friend'?

Who is this self that has an image or esteem? That is the classic nondual question for you. However, even conventional talk therapists can help with adjusting egoic identity issues...so that you get better "self-esteem." And maybe, finally your self-esteem is sufficient that you can transcend this s...

Re: Humility and Awakening

And it's always a pleasure to read your posts, also, rt. I enjoy that you have become a scholar of the vedantic traditions, reminding us of the value of ancient yet powerfully modern perspectives. I do think the discovery of dark energy and dark matter is huge support for astral planes etc. Things a...

Re: Humility and Awakening

turiya - Maybe seeing the Infinite in a leaf, and huge Blessings and Grace, too...maybe that is "transcending." Pardon me, relative to my earlier identity and self, it absolutely is transcending. Finding Source/Being everywhere is very special. My point was that while it is special and different tha...

Humility and Awakening

You might think these go together. You have a major spiritual awakening – a shift in perspective and identity…it is radical and life-changing, maybe scary at first. You jabber on about it and some people listen and some just walk away. You read lots of ancient books and some new ones, too. The Upani...

Re: Heavy pain body when I wake up in the morning

There are many meditation paths and techniques. If something is not working or is a negative experience, try something else...your experience is the final authority.
