Re: Here I Am

Welcome to the forum, Landon. The Witness is a common experience on the path/no path. But identifying with/as the Witness is a trap. Witnessing is the best way to describe the new Source/Presence perspective on the egoic self when it first arises. Do not be dismayed if it seems to fade - what is fad...

Re: Is effort necessary to stay present?

Totally agree with others' responses. For me, if I'm feeling stress, I just "settle back." That may sound like an odd phrase, (awakening doesn't have a direction) - but it seems to work. Tara Brach also commented about "moving behind herself." Kiki said that the simple recognition that you are not "...

Re: School of Awakening certification with your name on it

It would be interesting to know which professions allow CE credit for the course. Certificates for completion are common - doesn't mean you remember anything! It's far less worrisome than the old TM hints about learning to fly.

Re: Identity is Gone, is This Common?

It will take me a couple of days, but I will look for it. You may also want to ask ET's people on his website...it is an audio file.

The answer is deep inside. Let it arise without judgement.

AA -
Another author, Amoda Maa has written a very different sort of book, "Embodied Enlightenment," that helps to answer this question...readable but 'thought-provoking' - highly recommended.

Re: PLEASE HELP : I am scared of my new found awareness.

Welcome lim! First: If you feel suicidal, please close this post and contact a professional immediately. That said, I notice that you are articulate and literate, suggesting a good education, and a good mind. That is a mixed blessing because, as with ET, a good mind can be a trap (the ego is a "fals...

Re: Creating a superior ego

Owning psychological pain is better than denying it, for sure. There are cognitive techniques that help, however, in that suffering is suffering and relief of suffering is the goal. The Sedona Method and Byron Katie's "the work" are techniques worth investigating.

Re: Creating a superior ego

Recognition that the ego can take many forms is important. Another is "I am the great sufferer and cannot be helped." That identity can lead to suicide.

Re: Hello world

Ally - What "remains" after an awakening event is body-mind-personality. The "personality" piece is certainly a collection of learned behaviors, styles, preferences, skills, etc. When ET refers to ego as a "false self," (early in PON) he means false relative to the cosmic Pure Awareness / Unity Cons...

Re: When the now is peaceful but not what you want

ATC - Adya's tape on recovering from the belief of unworthiness is splendid - I think I put a link in an earlier post. Byron Katie's "the Work" is an excellent cognitive tool to dismiss old stuff, as is The Sedona Method. (ref "How do I just drop this?") Yes, some psychotherapists perpetuate anxiety...

Re: The Paradox of Wanting Nirvana

ATC - You mentioned earlier about gradual awakening. In his latest book, "Soul Story," Tim Freke talks briefly about the possibility that awakening is more common and easier now, due to the increasing number of people who are there or moving towards it. Freke re-introduces the concept of the soul, i...

Re: The Paradox of Wanting Nirvana

When we go about our daily lives we often interact with others, and in so doing we present to them the persona that they've been accustomed to seeing - in other words, to them we are what we've always been. They may know us as a neighbor, so we respond as their neighbor; they may know us as a teach...
