Re: The Paradox of Wanting Nirvana

ATC - You mentioned earlier about gradual awakening. In his latest book, "Soul Story," Tim Freke talks briefly about the possibility that awakening is more common and easier now, due to the increasing number of people who are there or moving towards it. Freke re-introduces the concept of the soul, i...

Re: The Paradox of Wanting Nirvana

When we go about our daily lives we often interact with others, and in so doing we present to them the persona that they've been accustomed to seeing - in other words, to them we are what we've always been. They may know us as a neighbor, so we respond as their neighbor; they may know us as a teach...

Re: When the now is peaceful but not what you want

ATC - Presence is a cauldron. No fixations can survive in it while it is fully operational. But old "subconscious beliefs" are neurophysiological patterns buried very deeply. Awakening (at least for me) was the sudden recognition that "I'm not, ultimately, who I though I was at all." It was a sudden...

Re: When the now is peaceful but not what you want

Meditation may not be necessary. Apparently it was not for ET, or a couple of other teachers who "shifted" rather spontaneously. But stilling the mind is very helpful, meditation stills the mind, etc. Awareness of the source of psychological pain and dwelling there is useful. Cognitive techniques su...

Re: When the now is peaceful but not what you want

Great! Now that I understand your meaning in the Present Moment, let me tell you the story of my 'awakening,' it's directly related. My wife brought home PON about 11 years ago and said "you might like this." Like kiki, I studied and practiced TM for many years (since 1974.) And had been searching f...

Re: When the now is peaceful but not what you want

ATC: Mainly I'm validating your experience of going with the flow: I just have to do what's required of me this moment, and they are all very practical and concrete. For example, right now, I am finish writing this post. The moment after that would be me getting the green drink out of the fridge. So...

Re: Empathy in support groups

Welcome helloworld! In my opinion you have progressed spiritually to a point where you have a perspective on your experiences, including your emotions surrounding those experiences that is not available to nor experienced by others in your group. In the nondual community we refer to that as "The Wit...

Re: When the now is peaceful but not what you want

practical things I want to achieve. Getting the green drink is one of these. Finishing the post is one of these. Is not "having a good relationship with my mother" one of these? How about "getting a good job as a (_____)." Or retiring without debt. Or "awakening." Distinguishing authentic "nudges f...

Welcome, ATC! I am so reminded at the gift we have in kiki, as I return to the forum after major surgery (total knee replacement.) Thanks again, kiki! Adyashanti has a wonderful audio selection on "Healing the Core Wound of Unworthiness", here: https://www.adyashanti.org/index.php?file=productdetail...

Re: Laws governing the evolution of consciousness

Welcome Ckunert - If you are referring to laws regarding the evolution of an individual consciousness, ET spoke about this briefly in about the third Webinar with Oprah in 2009. He said he felt that the ego was just too powerful to be overcome much before the age of 30 or so. If you are speaking abo...

Re: Embodied Awakening by Amoda Maa

Hey Smiiley!

Actually she touches on a number of topics other do not. But when she talks about the more common experiences and concepts, her writing is somewhat different and beautifully crafted. Mainly she talks about "what happens next" -- still a pretty new genre.
