Re: how to stop chronic worry?

It is difficult to stay present when one's job involves so much mind activity. I can see how that could lead a person into a world of more mind activity, feelings of helplessness and depression. For those who have more control over their work environment it would be very helpful to put objects aroun...

I hope I can improve.

Are there two of you?? :)

Look around now. You are in the present and have never left it.

Re: Pain and doubts arise

My friend, I can not add to the wisdom already given to you here but I can say your experience has been mine as well and I dare say most in this community. You are at home here. Still, I feel obligated to encourage you to celebrate your experiences. You have demonstrated a measure of awareness that ...

Re: What if I am bored by the now?

Since I've been reading Anthony de Mello recently, I'm going to offer one of his suggestions, although Eckhart suggests pretty much the exact same thing in his own writings. Go out in nature some time and sit down and observe. Don't label things that you see, don't organize them conceptually, don't...

Re: Meditation Station

Wonderful suggestions! I should like to try them all! For many years I could not sit still in meditation no matter how hard I try. A teacher suggested I try walking medition. I was very successful with it and it was the gateway that allowed me to discover seated, still meditation. Often we miss that...

Re: Does Eckhart give advice on controlling anger

It appears you are doing quite well. Better to observe your anger after it has appeared and subsided than not at all.

Re: The only question I'd ever ask Eckhart

Only an imagination of a "me". Yes! To see "me" and "Higer Power" is the byproduct of the duality of mind. Through mind you will always see with double vision. Consciousness is like the corrective glass that focuses the double vision. In consciousness "me" and "Higher Power" will be seen as one and...

Re: Why "Now" and not "Joy"?

You cannot be attached to the Now. You can only be attached to a concept of Now. You ARE the Now. When you drop all attachment, desire, trying, practice and attempt there will only be Now left and it will be realized as the I Am of you.

Re: how to stop chronic worry?

Yes, you have had stressful and difficult experiences. Your choice to share those experiences with a community of people maintaining presence is a wise decision. It is the beginning. You cannot choose to stop worrying. You can only bring worry into the presence. Worry is like a shadow and presence i...

Re: A New Job

Mr. Goldsmith was a business man and had many wonderful insights regarding business and the spiritual practice. I do believe there are a couple of his books with chapters dedicated specifically to that topic. I seem to recall Emmett Fox and Ernest Holmes touching on that subject as well.

Re: Struggling?

A very beautiful book. When one is trapped in mind, mind is the only tool one can utilize to begin freeing oneself from the trap. Therefore, in the beginning mind is useful. You may use mind as a tool without fear or regret. It exists for that purpose. It is all a part of the process. Be aware of th...
