Coffee & "self-inquiry" : Vancouver

Hi all,

I'm actively involved with Eckhtart meetup groups, and as a side business involved in 'happiness coaching' seminars that espouse many of Eckhart's pointers. If anyone lives in W.End Vancouver and would like to get together for coffee please let me know.

Warm regards,

Bob

Re: Please Advise

Most of us still are identified with form. Its difficult to believe we are truly living in a dream when everything appears so real. The 'die before you die' approach is not to deny your sensations, but to paradoxically make yourself feel more alive; to enjoy the field of form, but not get attached t...

Re: Please Advise

You sound very wise for a 25 year old. Let me just offer two reminders that Tolle mentions: 1) Die before you Die Are you familiar with the concept of this and if so, does contemplating on this release some of the pressure? If there is no one to please, no perfection to be attained, no goal to be re...

Re: Eckhart on Gratitude

Specific to the direction of gratitude discussed in the newsletter, Eckhart focuses on the difference between egoic gratitude (eg. I should be grateful that healthy and have food on the table instead of losing both my legs in Haiti). I've never seen gratitude as segmented this way. In a way I hear w...

Re: Anxiety when present

Karm, it's great to see you here. Interestingly enough in a previous post I actually sent out a post asking how to get music outside of the head, especially during periods of quiet solitude. Having music as a hobby makes it a bit of a challenging at times having the mind quiet, so thanks for providi...

Re: Do people really suffer?

Do people really suffer? This is a question I often wondered myself.... those individuals who seem ever so content with life, but have never picked up a mystic book or heard of consciousness. A couple of points to share: One, how do we know that people avoid suffering for sure? Look at just happened...

Re: AFFIRMATIONS AND GOALS: Danger or benefit?

Hi Andy, That was great to hear that you feel regarding serendipity that happens when one comes into alignment with source and acceptance becomes a part of life. Would you then go on to suggest that many who have surrendered and with a clear mind and good heart attract these events? This is such a t...

Re: AFFIRMATIONS AND GOALS: Danger or benefit?

I'm amazed at the quality of inspiration, integrity and writing on this forum. I am very grateful for the responses. Thank you. I was anticipating there to be more of a support for LOA, so in a way it is encouraging to discover people are really interested in how Gangaji describes as "the diamond in...

Re: AFFIRMATIONS AND GOALS: Danger or benefit?

It sounds like the feedback so far is leaning towards not wasting any time in LOA, rather to really find ourselves, put in zero effort to attachment, pay attention to your surroundings and the truth will show up. I like the billionaire begging in the street analogy mentioned; nonetheless meeting cer...

AFFIRMATIONS AND GOALS: Danger or benefit?

Good afternoon, As much as there has been wide discussion on THE SECRET and Law of Attraction there is a very important component I haven't seen addressed yet. I have read numerous books, searched on youtube and of course sifted through this forum. We can appreciate commonality between Tolle's point...

Re: constant music in the head

Thanks for the sharing gang.

There is no words that I'm really paying to, just the melody in the head that gets in the way of meditation, but as you mention, I just accept it and continue regardless.

constant music in the head

I know this is a very unique subject but something I have wondered which I haven't read about yet. This is for those who have music or a melody playing in the backgroud of their minds often enough to be a distration at times. When it comes to quieting the mind, or meditating, it is one thing to focu...

Re: Capitalism and Spirituality

have to qualify your statement on rewards. In the capitalist system, the rewards scale seems to be in inverse proportion to usefulness to society I fully agree that usefulness of a good in society does not necessarily equate to a higher price. You could even use the example of oxygen or water as an...

Re: Capitalism and Spirituality

I enjoyed reading the responses. I was actually pleasantly surprised that most are supportive of the capitalist system, despite the current financial meltdown we are facing. David, the other parallel I would see with spirituality and capitalism is that capitalism rewards you for your human capital a...
