Do I choose? (free will)

Do I choose what I do? I think so. I can choose to eat an apple or an orange. I can choose what I believe. I choose what clothes to wear. But what do I base such choices on? I mean, certainly the clothes I choose to wear are a result of choices beyond my own. I don’t choose to wear dresses. The more...

Am I doing what I am supposed to be doing?

Am I doing what I am supposed to be doing? I think so. But, what does ‘supposed’ mean? I guess it means that sometimes I am doing something by mistake. I was ‘supposed’ to be doing something other than what I was doing. Okay. So what? Well, what would happen if I never knew what I was “supposed” to...

The Man from Earth (based on premise that a man has lived since prehistory and the span of humanity) Brilliant dialogue.

Meeting others in my area?

Hello everyone.

I was wondering where I could find a meet-up group in my area? Is there a link here or is there another place I should look.

Thanks.

Re: Nisargadatta + weather?

First, I apologize for my ignorance but I am very curious. I am looking for an understanding of "astral travel". Would this be similar to what Dr. Thomas Keller speaks of in his Big TOE? In the lecture that I watched he talked about traveling to other universes and such. Reading KM's dreams (incredi...

Re: Dalai Lama/Spritual Teachers money/possessions

You know, by even asking such questions I am in at state of resistance. I sometimes find myself trying to analyze/understand/contemplate everything or label it and give it a purpose.

Re: Dalai Lama/Spritual Teachers money/possessions

I always wondered about how wealth and charity are balanced in awakened hands. Is there a reason for being wealthy over a "Dalai Lama" kind of lifestyle? I almost wish I didn't just hear you say Eckhart was so wealthy. I guess it's obvious now that i think about it, but denial had me thinking he was...

Dalai Lama/Spritual Teachers money/possessions

Dalai Lama simply gives his money away and seems to be satisfied with his few meager possessions. I'm not sure about Eckhart or others. I am only a school teacher with a modest income and my wife is the same, but we seem to keep so much and give away so little. Our charitable contributions come only...

John Lennon

Someone mentioned him as a visionary in another thread.

I love "Imagine" but I really don't know much about his music, sadly.

Is it possible that he entered an awakened state of being? Did his music/life take a sudden and divergent path? I am suddenly curious now, lol.

Re: Obama significance

I love laughing with friendsy and a smile is always comforting.

I am inspired by Eckhart Tolle. I am inspired by a simple hug. I am inspired by Barack Obama. And I am inspired by a walk with my dogs.

Many things bring me peace and fill me with compassion.

One Love.

Re: Obama significance

...we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

sounds good to me. :D
