Re: Law of attraction and OCD

I had to rush on here and tell you guys about this: yesterday I practiced the thought experiment again and envisioned a purple sheep in my mind. Today, my friend bought a new coffee mug on which was painted different coloured sheep running around the side, one of them purple. Another coincidence? LO...

Re: Law of attraction and OCD

I like the show the Family guy and I think the last one I watched was about Peter starting a religion around the Fonz. People we were quick to buy into it. The LOA has the same appeal--it promises to fulfill the ego's desires. So of course people have flocked to it. It's highly narcissistic and ego...

Re: Disturbing Comments

Misanthropes confuse me. They complain about humans and always seem to forget that they are one themselves.

What those people should be complaining about is ego. But then, that's a paradox, because complaining is ego. Forget it, haha.

Re: Silver lining?

The general idea in this thread seems to be that animals are unconscious to such a degree that they can't think or rationalise an opposition to nature, whereas as humans we can do just that. Although we oppose the natural flow of things and have an incredibly destructable effect on our planet, we ar...

Re: Silver lining?

The statement that non-humans animals are "the closest ones to what we'd call enlightenment" is incorrect. Animals are less, not more, conscious than humans. Yeah, I soon realised this after spending more time on this forum. What confuses me about this, though, is that animals tend to show a deep i...

loneliness

I'll try not to go into too much detail, but I'll just tell you a bit of my 'ego story' to illustrate the situation. About two years ago I matriculated high schools and had to force myself into friendship groups that were already formed in this new school. It was very hard, and I never felt fully ac...

Re: Astrology

Thanks for showing that, it's interesting. I'll look up more of what Osho says about this.

Re: 2012

I also started wondering about 2012 a while back (not so much about Jon and kate), but now I'm in the same mind as kiki. If something does happen, it's what is supposed to happen. The common theory of a polarity shift on Earth is frightening, but there's nothing we can do about it. I just hope if so...

Astrology

What are your views on this? I'm sceptical, personally, but out of pure curiosity one day, I researched where all my Suns and Moons and houses, etc., fell under my birthday... and the analysis of my 'personality' (ego) was extraordinary. It was precisely right in almost every detail. And the analysi...

Re: Michael Jackson

What beautiful quotes by MJ. Here's another: “Children show me in their playful smiles the divine in everyone. This simple goodness shines straight from their hearts and only asks to be lived.” Obviously this quote is sadly dampened by his past with accusations made about him, but I don't believe a ...

Re: The Double Slit experiment

I'll post a bit about the EPR Parodox that karmarider mentions: "The experiment is so named because it was a thought experiment devised by Einstein, Boris Podolsky and Nathan Rosen. As with Schrödinger's cat-in-the-box experiment, its purpose was to expose the 'foolishness' of the Copenhagen Interpr...

Re: Tingling / density

I'm a little confused. What exactly are these experiences if they're not important/necessary to awakening? Are they even related?

Tingling / density

For a long time yesterday, I was looking at this site, at teachings on youtube, and at A New Earth, and I decided I would really try to stay present in a meditation for a long time last night. I understand you're not supposed to prepare for these things, as there's only one moment you can do it in, ...

Re: The Double Slit experiment

Glycine: Actually, no humans were present in either case. Humans measured their findings based on what the interference patterns showed after the experiment had been completed. They didn't watch as the experiment was underway. I'm curious how you came to the understanding that the physicality of the...

The Double Slit experiment

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfPeprQ7oGc

The findings of this experiment (and similar ones) have always fascinated me. To see the workings of consciousness not only as the is-ness inside you, but as a scientifically proven study, is amazing for me.
