Re: My issues with sex and lust
There are probably many people here who can relate to what you are saying on one level or another, but I highly doubt that anyone here would be qualified to give you any advice about it, and therefore it would be reckless to do so. I would recommend that you look into therapy from a qualified profes...

Re: Following my heart
Interesting situation, I can identify. I was a real late bloomer myself. I lived off my parents (and later my spouse) until I was in my mid 30's. I managed to graduate college, but other than that I didn't do anything to speak of. Eventually I got into a sink or swim situation and I had no choice bu...

As the old saying goes "success is getting what you want, and happiness is wanting what you get"
Choose the latter, always and often.

Re: How can I tell thought from non-thought?
Take a look for yourself and I have a feeling you'll discover that thought is really no difference than any other sense perception which arises. Essentially it''s no different than a sound that you hear, or an object than you see. As far as I can tell there is no reason to give thought any special s...

Re: Is it correct to say; "You are not your thoughts"
Interesting that you'd mention your question in the context of waves on the ocean. There was a great enlightend guy who passed away in the 90's named Bill Hamilton, and in his only book "Saints and Psychopaths" he related what I think is one of the most profound spiritual realiztions of the 20th cen...

Re: Using My Hand to Cover My Navel (Belly Button)
That's quite interesting. It's a very unusual mudra, I can't say I have ever run into it in yoga circles. Are you using the same hand every time? Can you give the other hand a try and let us know what happens? Is there a difference?

Re: I am new to Tolle, but have a concern
Hi Steven and welcome; Love is an arising, in it's best form a divine abiding. Certainly something that you should protect and foster in your life, by all means love your family dearly. As the Dali Lama said "you can live without meditation and religion, but you can't live without human affection" I...

Re: My ego's strategies?
Besides Tinnitus I constantly have music and snippets of movies or stuff I've seen that day or week 'in my head', usually a loop. That discription strikes me as being remarkably similar to a repetitive dream. Could this be my ego's tactic to keep me from being present? It might be best to try not t...

Re: Duality when inquiring.
If i were to inquire into the nature of hurt, and I ask , " Who is it that is hurt? Or what is is that is hurt" Arent i creating a duality there. When i inquire, it is the false self that inquires. The false self that wants an outcome from the inquiry. It wants to dissolve the all the hurts. Any ad...

Re: How are spiritual experiences generally regarded in Indi
jan-sandahl; My other faults not withstanding I am rather well traveled westerner in India, both in North India and South India. Foremost I'd probably warn against being too idealistic about awakening in India. I think someone running down the street shouting that they were God would be a bit of an ...

Re: Meditation help needed please
As far as I can tell there is no difference between a thought and any of the other 5 sensations which might potentially arise during meditation. The Buddha [in the Chappana Sutta] said your whole experience is just like 6 animals (each represeting one of the senses) all bound together by six strong ...

Re: A fail-proof path
Good advice all around; you defined the benefits of doing those 4 steps, but I didn't see any clear defintion of the actual problem. Of course that doesn't discount anything you are saying, but just for interest's sake can you tell us what you feel the actual problem is?

Do you think that a massive quality in successful people is naturally being present. Not necessarily, but it's definitely been my experience that a massive quality in happy people is naturally being present... As Dale Carnegie said: "success is getting what you want and happiness is wanting what yo...

Re: Awake
I have a hard enough time judging my own personal level of attainment, call it what you will, let alone trying to size up others. But I would say kiki without a doubt; I am also semi-certain about Ananda , but I haven't seen him around for awhile. By my count that makes one and a half of us who are ...
