Re: How can I be present and not enable my partners unconsciousness when they are reactive towards me?

How can I be present and not enable my partners unconsciousness when they are reactive towards me? Is there an amount of time one can invest with being present until you realize the person you are with just may not change? I have not talked with her about being in the present moment, as I do not kn...

Re: What are we?

Paul, I suggest you pay close attention to Kiki's post. He is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced meditaters on this forum. Thanks Kiki for that excellent contribution. Learned a few good tips myself.

Re: What are we?

Also, regarding meditation. I've tried it. I can't sit in the lotus position. I like to do it laying down, but I really don't know what I am supposed to be doing. I try and focus on the breathe. But which bit? Any help on techniques from anyone here would be grateful. What do people find the benefi...

Re: What are we?

What you say about there being two Pauls, I can understand to an extent. I'm not saying there are two Pauls. You are. How many Pauls are there if a naked Paul puts on some fireman clothes and goes to work as an fireman? Are there two? One without identifying clothing, and another with? There is one...

Re: High functioning Autism and enlightment

Welcome to the forum. I too am a slow reader. Took me the better part of a year to go through Power of Now. Of course I re-read lines, paragraphs, and pages multiple times to get into the depth of them. So maybe I read a book such as Tolle's multiple times on a single pass. Another of Tolle's books ...

Re: A more simple understanding of awareness/presence

Very nice indeed. I find adding an undefined sense of love and appreciation to this clear state to be wonderfully empowering.

Re: What are we?

But if Paul is a character, then why does it seem that that character might live on after physical death? It seems that way because it is that way. For simplicity let's call Paul's True Self - PAUL. So Paul is not a separate aspect of PAUL. Paul is an extension of PAUL designed for the purpose of P...

Re: What are we?

Could you break down what you mean by Paul is an ego identification, not a separate identity? Allow me the use of an analogy. Do you remember the movie Forest Gump? One of the all time classics. So here's a question to consider: Who was Tom Hanks to Forest Gump? What was the nature of Forest Gumps'...

Re: What are we?

I see what you are saying about being God. God experiencing Paul. But then Paul doesn't really exist. That's not what I'm saying. To be more accurate, God is experiencing life 'as Paul'. Paul is an ego identification, not a separate identity, it's a perspective. But what is real, the origin of the ...

Re: What are we?

All I get from them is that I don't exist and neither does anyone else. Everything is God. This is a misunderstanding and misinterpretation. I recommend you stay away from such ideas as they will only cause you pain - and that's a good thing. It's painful to you simply because it conflicts with wit...

Re: The will to action

Hi James, welcome to the forum. That's an interesting question, and I don't know how much of an answer you'll get for it. Here's my take on it however. There's an old hippie statement that went around for a while. 'If it feels good, do it'. I don't exactly subscribe to that concept, as what feels go...

Good choice. Anytime you can recognize clarity, choose that. It is the canvas within which insight is born.

Re: recidivism of unconsciousness

Welcome to the forum Ninth. First, it is important how you internally characterize the results of your efforts at gaining presence and growth. If you view that growth in terms of successes and failures, you will most certainly have failures which all too often lead to self-judgement which only serve...
