Re: Role of the mind

Not all atheists are the "I believe in science" type or something like that, and I'm not the only atheist that is dedicated in non-dualism, presence, etc. There are monks that are atheists, for example. It may be worthwhile to define what you mean by 'atheist'. Most of the rabid atheists I know are...

Re: Porn, masturbation and spiritual awakening

Here's the problem with watching porn and masturbating. You are programing yourself for sex over relationship. When you do meet someone, it's highly likely that the desire for sex will distort your view of the partner you're considering. You'll make allowances and lower standards that you wouldn't o...

Re: How can I handle unpleasant emotions

So I was wondering how to best handle emotions that are nihilistic, socially inappropriate, degrading or restrictive. My sense is that you have a wrong idea about emotions. (Not morally wrong, just inaccurate.) I see emotions as gifts from Source. What they represent is a measure of our alignment w...

Re: Help!!!!!

Myself and my family have been through so much already with regards to my anxiety and fear and I’m frightened to death of having a spiritual awakening and have to be hospitalised or the psychotic feeling that I’ve lost my mind. Actual spiritual awakening is not something that is likely to make you ...

Re: Role of the mind

My point is that atheists are stuck in the mind. They can't recognize the spiritual dimension in their lives because they try to use reason to understand it. Yeah, good luck with that. My own brother is an atheist. He is so invested in it that any honest consideration is beyond his current capabili...

Re: William Buhlman and the true Nature of Being

Here's a recent talk by Buhlman. It's excellent. If you have an interest in understanding the Greater reality, our place in it, and the importance of our study of it, this talk is a gem. Clear, concise, enlightening. Highly recommended. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL_xHRpprzYm4yZjy5mAM...

Re: A Seeker from Colorado USA

Welcome Harlin. Kudos on surviving all that indoctrination. Who knew it could be a blessing to not pay too much attention in church?
Enjoy the forum.

Re: Help!!!!!

...my mind perceives bodily sensations as dangerous. As I have said previously I'm 33 and have had all the relevant medical tests done. My mind still is not satisfied and still drags me along like a rag doll. I suggest you think from a perspective of being and eternal Being. You're here on a tempor...

Re: Help!!!!!

First be patient. You don't have to understand it at all. Most people don't ever even consider what you are exploring at this time. Your life will have value to your greater nature regardless of how it unfolds. As to perspective, it's simply a matter of where in consciousness life is viewed from. Eg...

Re: Is easier to be present when we do things slowly?

I've found it to be a great practice. That said, it's unlikely to be able to spend every moment all day in slow motion presence awareness. What is much more practical is to take short moments, repeated often, all day, every day in clear moments of thought-free presence. There is no litmus test for t...

Re: Help!!!!!

Yes, I've found we actually step out of thought to adjust to this perspective. Wonderfully clearing. With a little practice and familiarity, one can conduct much of the business of life without losing presence.

Re: Is easier to be present when we do things slowly?

I suggest you don't get too hung up on 'slow'. It's a means to an end and not a goal in itself. Recognizing presence awareness over thought stream identification is what matters. Once a clear familiarity is gained, slow is less relevant.

Yeah, it's kind of what Tai Chi is about. I see no reason one couldn't take a bath 'Tai Chi' style.

Re: Help!!!!!

So all this anxiety and fear that I suffer with all these negative thoughts are the source of the ego? Why is my ego so hostile? It’s it in a funny way trying to protect me? I wouldn't say they are the source of ego, but rather a byproduct of the particular/unique quality your ego has become. You'v...
