Re: Mortality

Good to hear from you Smiley. Sorry to hear about your mom. Yes, we are human and cannot/should not deny that aspect of ourselves.

Re: Mortality

Yes, that 'cognitive dissonance' of having a normal conversation one day and then hearing that a person has passed away another day is very strange indeed. To quote the Bhagvad Gita (Chapter 2): "This (self/essence) is never born, nor does it die...It is unborn eternal, undergoes no change and is ev...

Re: The causal body

Hi Bronto, Traditional Vedanta (as taught by James and others) ended the search for me. Hope you find it helpful. I can also recommend utube videos by Swami Sarvapriyananda. He is a really cool monk from the Vedanta Society of NY who is an excellent speaker with a huge following. You can google him ...

Re: Mortality

Hi Alicia, Sorry to hear about your relative. I can highly recommend this hour long video by Dr. Peter Fenwick a neuorpsychiatrist who talks about the dying (transitioning) process from a spiritual (Tollean) perspective. It really demystifies the dying process and how we approach it. https://www.you...

Re: The causal body

Very close WW! When any event takes place in a persons life, then there is an emotional response to it and this creates an 'impression'. These impressions are stored in the causal body. When another situation arises, our reaction to that situation is 'colored' by our previous impressions. So the mor...

Re: The causal body

HI Bronto,
Welcome! The causal body is the storehouse of all your 'vasanas' or tendencies or conditioning. So yes, in a way, it is your conditioning that influences your actions.

Smiley--nice to see you around! Hope all is well.

Re: Awakening

Alicia said: I've often said to people 'my life has been a process of letting goes'. Of course, the same is true for everyone, but not many are aware of it. There has been much loss in my life, but I am finding my self under it all. Lovely and so true. Unless we suffer, we don't really surrender or...

Re: Awakening

Great posts Alicia. I agree with Andy that your input is very valued. In traditional Vedanta the witness even has a name: Sakshi. Ultimately, when we want to live from the perspective of the true self, then the only way to do it is to be the witness. Alicia wrote: What I've realised is nothing like ...

Re: NDE, Dying, Nonduality--Ted Talk

Hi Jen, Good to hear from you! I thought of you when I saw the hour long interview. He talks about NDE during childbirth and perhaps that was true for you as well. I like what you say--indeed, understanding death is so that we can live without fear and better understanding of our true nature. Hope a...

NDE, Dying, Nonduality--Ted Talk

by Dr. Peter Fenwick who is a neuropsychiatrist and has studied dying and NDE for a long time. Credible, backed by research and eloquent. I think you'll enjoy this: Hour long interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78SkTuk8Zd4&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR3RNFvw_3zoQjJXM2rsn4ybAZyZllmeW1zCJGJ2hnlhvHa...

Re: Hello from Plymouth, UK

Hi Kate,
Welcome back! Since you started with these teachings as a teenager, I'm curious as to how much benefit you got out of them. And yes, I can imagine at that young age, life is more about trying to figure things out.
Enjoy the forum, rt

Re: Is it God?

I don't know much about Jesus--but I expect he was self-realized. He knew he was awareness and spoke from that perspective.

Re: Is it God?

Exactly, Joe! And that awareness is YOU. You are pure being/awareness (God) plus the name and form of awareness appearing as Joe. :D
