Re: Literally always 'in the now'

Hi Jen, Great to hear from you! I hope all is well with you. Sorry to hear about your parents. But you make some great points using their perspective. I had similar thoughts to yours when I heard the piece. That love and music are timeless or beyond time so to speak was lovely to hear. But what stru...

Literally always 'in the now'

I heard this incredible clip on the radio today. It's about a person who has the most severe documented case of amnesia. He forgets everything in the blink of an eye. That is, he cannot remember what has just happened from moment to moment. He is literally always 'in the now'. He has no concept of t...

Ramana Ashram in NY talk on Advaita

Hi, I know there are fans of Ramana Maharishi here on the forum and of Swami Sarvpriyananada. So I thought I would post this excellent talk on Advaita Vedanta that the Swami gives at the Ramana Ashram in Jamaica, New York. Brilliant stuff! Highly recommended https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8m8ac_aB...

Neuroscience, the mind, different selves...

I enjoyed this blog post from a neuroscience writer. I liked his analogy of how our multiple 'roles', masks, 'sevles' are like different smart phone apps with no central processor :D.

Re: Barometer of spiritual progress

Thanks everyone! One of the fruits of self realization is inner peace or release from suffering (to different degrees). So its useful to have some barometer of progress in one's spiritual practice. For me, spiritual practice has provided me with many tools to navigate the vagaries of samsara. And pr...

So true!

For me, these days a mantra seems to do the trick. It stops recursive thinking and places the focus on the self (presence).
