Re: For every Tolle, Millions who Don't Make It

Yes, absolutely. Everything you said is true. Even here, 98% of this forum (if not more) is probably still conceptualizing the teachings, even if they believe they have attained 'something'. But that is not for us to concern ourselves with. The only one that benefits from presence is he who experien...

Re: For every Tolle, Millions who Don't Make It

Tolle is as good a starting point as Adyashanti If they are good "starting points", who if anyone in your opinion, is a good second step? It would depend on the individual. Some people resonate better with one teacher, even while the teaching is essentially the same. In my experience, Tolle was a g...

Re: fear of death

The panic starts after the observation that I am not who I thought I was. It is then followed by a very intense fear of death. The fear is not the same fear as someone gets when worrying about life situations but it is the basic primordial fear of death. The fear is so strong that it forces me to ex...

Re: children

I'm not sure that money is the driving force, rather the promise that money can bring. On more occasions during my childhood, I could count how fulfilled I felt when I had something new; whether it be a possession, money, verbal recognition, it felt good. Temporarily, at least. Once that fulfillment...

Re: For every Tolle, Millions who Don't Make It

But Tolle is a good starting point I believe. Interesting POV. Funny that your username is eckhart01, but you seem to be talking up Adyashanti over Tolle. Is this accurate? I'm not invested in either, just curious. Essentially I find them both to be very adept in conveying something that seems incr...

Re: Why do I have to try?

All you need to know is that if this process is frustrating you, it's working. Does anyone remember how great and calming it was listening/reading Eckhart for the first time? Then you realize its not so easy. Then you go through more turmoil than with which you began. Eventually, even if it takes ye...

Re: For every Tolle, Millions who Don't Make It

I'm not saying he should not present these teachings, but the thing is, all he can do, any teacher can do, is speak from their own experience. His rapid awakening may be unique, or it may be widespread, but you are right in saying that all one can do is speak from experience. We cannot say for cert...

Re: Feeling the inner body

I would be careful of suggesting what are you are saying to anyone who is new to Eckhart's pointers. To the original poster xkatex, keep doing what you are doing, even if you feel parts of it. I'll reiterate, Eckhart himself has said that 'entire body feeling' is not necessary. The point of body awa...

Re: Feeling the inner body

The pointer of going into the body seems to be misinterpreted a lot. The "goal" is not to feel that feeling (aliveness if you will) throughout your whole body. The idea behind this pointer is to focus on something that isn't mind movement. So, focusing on breathing as in meditation or feeling your h...

Re: I did not come to bring peace, but a sword - please help

You seem to have objectified 'peace' and spirituality. I did the same for a long time; for instance I would get agitated when my sibling would play loud music as I was trying to go into the body and eventually fall asleep. I can talk to you about accepting that there are distractions all around you,...

Re: Upsetting Experience With a Client

If you are having trouble with accepting what has happened, then time will do its job of giving you peace of mind. Stay angry and upset for the next couple of weeks, or don't. It really doesn't matter. Some people use situations like yours to go deeper into presence, others find it harder, and need ...

Re: Fight Club and American Beauty

Somewhere in both movies are nice messages to be found. Yet, "be careful not to identify with being a spiritual seeker".. bereft of teachings of presence and Being, the messages in those movies only inspire identification with anti-consumerism (in the case of Fight Club).

Re: How long for can you be present every day?

When a concerted effort is made to feel the body, anywhere up to an hour. Otherwise, minutes, if that. That said, it does appear that people have different interpretations of what presence is. The deep feeling Eckhart alludes to is something I've probably had for a total of 10-20 seconds in my life....

Re: Do animals have egos?

In light of that snowheight, maybe they do indeed have traces of egoic behaviour at some level. Dreaming in itself is a collection of thoughts, and while we don't seem to understand dreams, science points to it having a function. A process to collate the experiences of the day perhaps. Again I'm not...
