I also have zero interest in non-duality, pure consciousness etc.
Some of the practices such as meditation, yoga, being present are helpful ways to counter-balance a stressful life. But ulimately humans are born with a brain that identifies with a self & thinks with abstraction.

Re: Question for long term Tolle students
You only seek when you're in a state of discontentment . Im no longer a seeker because I'm chopping wood & carrying water. Forget enlightenment & find contentment by doing the same.

Re: The threatening nature of the Collective Ego
Have you heard about the GDELT project? In a nut shell, its a project to monitor the collective ego every 15 minutes. All the news of the world is translated into English & contextualized into a massive database that can be queried by anybody curious enough to find out what the world is thinking abo...

Re: There is no "I" to be "Pure Awareness"
Andy, As Douglas Hofstadter has said... enlightenment would be transcending Dualism. Dualism is the conceptual division of the world into categories. Human perception is by nature a dualistic phenomenon - which makes the quest for enlightenment an uphill battle to say the least. So its not a matter ...

Re: Seeking/finding
Hi Ashley, I remember your picture, then after awhile you fuzzed out your face, because you were into Douglas Hardings "no head" techniques..lol. Good memory... I use to have a good lark drumming up heated debates about my latest esoteric offerings. The no head pointer by Douglass was classic, Greg...

Re: Just for a moment
Tolle found a captive audience because people suffer with troublesome thinking & the troublesome nervous & emotional responses that follow scary thought that in turn keep stimulating uncomfortable & unwanted responses. Thoughts are stimulates for action. Without the thinking mind to stimulate nervou...

Re: Just for a moment
Just for a moment, put the fancy concepts to one side - forget the metaphysics, the dogma and the theory and wake up to what is actually going on. Move out of mind and simply look; here, now, THIS… Again, forget about that being yet another tired nonduality cliche and actually look to where it poin...

Re: Seeking/finding
Andy, You may have forgotten but I was the first one to start the trend of posting an avatar selfie a few years back (prior to that no one ever bothered with real avatars in this forum). I think my current avatar is a much better representation of my identity on this forum. One where I share ideas I...

Re: Seeking/finding
I think your transitioning at the moment.... posting a picture of yourself is a telltale sign. And you are never at the end. Always in a state of flux, constantly transitioning. You may even find yourself disagreeing with some of your core beliefs now in a few years from now. It's called growth or d...

Re: Shifting attention from thought
Thanks Andy for your caring & compasionate comments. I feel somewhat honored you've singled me out to be the target of your morning loving-kindness-meditation practice
That experience was at least 10 years ago now, but otherwise the memories & the knowledge how to overcome them endure.

Re: Shifting attention from thought
Placing attention on the body is not necessarily avoidance. A stressful thought can arise and be owned and accepted...for a couple of minutes. Then, placing attention on the body could, perhaps should happen, if it works for you. Grinding away for hours on a single distressing thought or feeling is...

Re: Shifting attention from thought
Andy, Thanks for getting back into this discussion with a fine response. Byron Katie technique "the work" which I believe is still a form of CBT with a different name. Requires you to stop and consciously stay with your troublesome thought & basically challenge it by turning it around 180 degrees. W...

Re: A period of peace, followed by another pain body attack
I suspect your all-or-nothing thinking tendancies has led you to focus too much on the negative aspects. Check this article out: it offers practical ways for expanding an all-or-nothing thinking style to a more healthy balance. http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2015/08/12/5-ways-to-expand-all-or...

Re: A period of peace, followed by another pain body attack
Arose91, I can gleen some things about your mental state by just analysing your own writing. In your post you use extreme expressions... always, constant, first time, no dread or fear, gone for good, out of nowhere, intense, heavy feelings, terror, taken over, extreme, utter despair... etc When we o...

Re: A period of peace, followed by another pain body attack
You posted almost the exact same request for advice a few weeks ago. Why start another thread? http://eckhart-tolle-forum.inner-growth.info/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13741&p=126991#p126991 But for the record. Panic disorder is a treatable disorder. I use to suffer, followed this advice and no longer fear ...
