Re: Struggling with the idea of moral impassivity

. Our modern culture based on Christian ethics invented taboos against natural human drives. This coercion creates the binary opposition of good and bad within the mind. The resulting guilt produced by fluctuation between the two is so burdensome in some individuals that they rebel with antisocial ...

Re: EXTREME issues with physical appearance (sorry; kinga lo

Well, I was expecting some hideous freakazoid to be peering back at me from the computer but you're actually cute! Don't worry love, nothin to worry about. It wont last forever tho, for any of us. It doesn't do to be quite so attached to your outter appearance. I would focus on becoming aware of al...

Re: EXTREME issues with physical appearance (sorry; kinga lo

I just looked at the last photo... and I still think you look like a regular guy. You've got nothing to worry about IMO. Seriously.... I'm saying that from the heart. I will assume "you've got nothing to worry about" means, "you are adequate looking enough to not have to have a huge complex about y...

Re: EXTREME issues with physical appearance (sorry; kinga lo

wow ok i was expecting something totally different in the pictures. You just look like a very normal guy. I don't see the disproportion-ness. I don't see the strange head shape. I don't see the horrible, brutish face at all.

Re: inner-peace and contentment

Ashley, thank you too for your post!! all the words, concepts & pointers have to be left behind eventually. Left behind as truth, yes, definitely. I'm cool with them hanging around though, lol, as long as they don't mislead me anymore! Hi Pete, Yes agreed. Good insight. BTW, I really appreciate you...

Re: inner-peace and contentment

Great post key!! Making an effort to find unconditional peace seems to be like hitting random notes on the piano, looking for the one that creates silence. Lasting conditional peace is an ego fantasy. That is something mind can understand, not so mind can learn the truth, but so it can understand ho...

Re: Howdy

pete said, Things get nasty though, when this device thinks something is wrong, it is in danger, it needs to defend itself and that it IS a self, for that matter. That's schizophrenia right there lol. Thats good pete. I think its about time we open up an adult conversation on the nature of delusion...

Re: Howdy

I believe that mind can eventually see, that which it isn't. Instead of practicing to be something it's not, it can learn to let go of the assumption that it's more than a wave in the ocean (as i've seen people describe it so beautifully). Once it understands that it isn't the main act on stage, th...

Pete,

No worries. Thanks for the feedback. It's great to swap ideas and find out how others approach this stuff.

Re: inner-peace and contentment

Inner-peace is also a concept. Its dual opposite is Inner-turmoil. However, the difference with this dual-pair concept....is it can also act as a pointer. Because it points towards stillness... the background. Stillness, Background, Awareness, Consciousness, Space, Presence.... all negate the Reali...

Re: Reminder

Thanks Pete for explaining. For me, there is a deeper (eternal, non-changing) level of reality prior to the ever-changing reality that we see on the surface. I think that is what Nisargdutta might be pointing to as well in that quote. For what its worth, I was confused about this issue for a long t...

Re: Reminder

That's ok, i'll try to explain what i meant :) You make a distinction between that which is ultimately real (eternal, Godlike if you may) and that which is mere form. But why would form be any less Godlike than our true nature? I see God (or Life or Self) as the everchanging being of all. We are God...

Re: Simple question

Be well, Pete. Find ways to sit right through the mind-suffering and it will dissolve. Resist nothing. The mind-made suffering cannot survive in the searing crucible of Presence, which is where you actually live...which is who you actually are... I don't often quote the Christian Bible, but Acts 16...
