Re: I would rather mope about my life than try to change it
Here is another one: What would I do if I knew for sure that I couldn't fail. In my case right now, I would move to a place that nurtures me. Yet there is fear. Fear of failure, fear of loss, fear of being wrong. Fear of disappointing others. I will sit with the fear for awhile and observe it. What ...

Psychoslice, you are one of the lucky ones. Most of us have to do this the slow way. By the way, have you seen the movie Beautiful mind?

Re: comparisons/jealousy/envy...how to end this?
Would it help to get a job taking other people's dogs for a walk? Or volunteer at a dog shelter? I know it's not the same as having your own puppy, but it might help. You sound like someone who would make a great vet. I wish you well.
Re: Sleep!
Try focusing on your breathing. Breathe slowly and deeply and keep your focus on the breath. If stray thoughts arise, let them pass by and bring your attention back to your breath. Works every time. I found this advice in one of ET's videos. Also, an hour before bed turn off the electronics and the ...

Also, the question that worked for me was, "whose life do I most envy? The answer could provide you with a mentor. Good luck.

Oh, you mean like not judging the thoughts or putting them all in a box and putting a label "pain body" on it?

Re: Is living in the Now being shallow?
Exactly. Philosophy, political, economic and all other analysis involve the mind which is ego. Education is mostly about the mind and thinking. So, for example the uneducated shepherd or the fisherman, or a mother nursing her baby in a third world village who only take care of what is in front of th...

Is living in the Now being shallow?
What do you think of people who happily work hard and play hard but just don't seem to think hard? They don't seem to be very intellectual, but more aware of the senses. They relish life but are not interested in analyzing or philosophizing. Does that make them shallow or more awakened?

What I don't understand is how does one know when they ought choose the easy way of consciously stepping away from someone who activates their pain body continually, vs. consciously using that difficult person as an awareness practice? I was also in a similar situation. I stuck with it while using ...

Re: Enormous distress from not being able to get a girlfrien
Also, the reason you are in pain is because you are living in the future. Focus on the now, and then each person you see, smile at, say hello to, speak to is someone you are having a relationship with however brief. And while you are relating, try to increase your presence. You will find value in ev...

Re: Enormous distress from not being able to get a girlfrien
Sometimes the longing is all we get. Women also long for a "hot" man: attractive, successful, intelligent, who loves us and treats us well. He can choose the longing or having a girlfriend. We've all seen the t-shirt with a picture of a skeleton sitting on a bench with a sign that says: "waiting for...
