Re: Wondering if I can get input on an article about depress

If the greatest thing a person can achieve in this moment, is to put one foot in front of the other and remember to breathe, that is enough. If the only 'solution' a person can see is to end their mortal suffering, that is their reality, within their capacity, awareness. It stands to reason that on...

Re: Wondering if I can get input on an article about depress

I really like those DeMello quotes a lot. Thanks for sharing them! I found the article I shared to be conflicting in that is was very shaming, harsh, and there was obvious anger/resentment that fueled some of it but it also incorporated some spiritual views. It was rather contradictory in that it re...

Wondering if I can get input on an article about depression

Hi there, I wondered if any of you might be willing to read the following article and share your thoughts on it? I have been struggling with depression for my entire life and came across this piece. I was curious as to what you think of it: http://www.tomahaiku.com/youre-not-depressed-youre-selfish/...

Re: How "necessary" is meditation?

Thank you all so much for your posts. I have gathered some really helpful insights from you and am feeling more comfortable with the fact that meditation is not a one size fits all sort of thing. I tend to feel pressure to see it that way at times. Lots of "right and wrongs", etc. I appreciate the f...

Re: How "necessary" is meditation?

Can I ask what you are doing at the moment ? And what do you plan on doing ? What kind of thing do you think would work for you ? I have tried several things. Going into a comfortable, empty, silent room and sitting down comfortably. I breath deeply and focus on my breath. Try to observe my thought...

How "necessary" is meditation?

I wondered what your perspectives on meditation are? I have been reading some things written by several insightful people (cannot recall their names at this point) who follow the "Buddha path" and are very much at peace. Within these writings is the very clear message that daily meditation is necess...

Re: Addictions and Compulsions

Thank you all. I bought that book that was recommended and look forward to reading it.

I just have to continue reminding myself that it took over 30 yrs to form this compulsion and it will take time to free myself of it. Gotta practice patience...

Addictions and Compulsions

Can any of you share your experiences with compulsive/addictive behaviors? I have dealt with a relentless binge eating disorder for over 30 years (since I was a child) and it continues to get worse and worse. The truth is right in front of me. Within me. I know, without doubt, that the only way thro...

Re: Is ignoring thoughts actually resisting them?

To break the cycle....all you need to do is start attending to whatever feelings you have right now.... and to make that attentive nature more "conscious".... ask the question "Can I let go of this feeling?" Don't think about the answer, just let yes or no arise without effort. The whole idea here ...

Re: Throw your life away depression and the Power of Now

DavidB, I appreciate what you wrote about emotions and conditioning/reconditioning etc. I have to be blatantly honest here: I know that seeking relief isn't the way to go, but I pray that my emotional attachments can be changed. I know it can be a lengthy process, but I hope it will be in my lifetim...

Re: Does it ever feel forced to you?

Erpman said: What I understand that Eckhart is saying about practicing presence when life is smooth is to practice remembering to be present when life is smooth, to build up a new habit
So, what does Eckhart mean exactly when he says this? (You might have already explained it- not sure)

Donna: I liked the Mooji quote a LOT. And I am going to check out that video as well. Thank you so much. rideforever: Funny you should write that. I have been seriously questioning my timing on all of this. Only problem is that I feel as though I was almost thrust into it due to the intensity of my ...

Re: Some Questions about Jed Mckenna's Perspective

Thanks for sharing that.

Simplifying. Sometimes I think that's what it's all about. Well, not ALL it's about. But it's key. We are walking around ensconced in layers of all kinds of stuff... Building it up each and every moment instead of sitting with it and allowing it to shed itself.
