Re: Wild Wild Country
To be quite honest I thought both communities quite awful in their behaviour. The saying "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely". I remember in history class the teacher favouring a benevolent dictatorship as the best form of government, personally a half jokingly say I would prefer ...

Re: Wild Wild Country
hi Oncler I am 64 and we'll remember the events as they unfolded on the news. I used to hangout with the Rajneeshi's as they were known then. I really enjoyed the doco, I came away thinking that as a doctor of philosophy and being at the right time he was able to put together his teachings that offe...

Re: Miserable when I Interact
Thanks Mystic for your reply, One think I do observe within myself is how I become defensive to unfair criticism, I make a distinction between fair and unfair, I usually am aware when I am wrong and fess up but my emotions come heavily into play, its not just thoughts, anger is a biggie. When someon...

Re: Miserable when I Interact
Good point mystic, In intense situations for example where the boss creates a lot of chaos and stress around her and I can see it clearly and I really don't want to react and get caught up in the madness but I eventually do. Any advice on how to prevent my reactions. Most of us switch off and take o...

Re: Miserable when I Interact
Thanks Steve for those quotes I found them most helpful. Like the previous 2 posters I find some social interaction unbearable. A week ago I was coerced into going to a live performance that I clearly did not want to attend but in the end went. I became the 6 year old child, a furry ball of resentme...

Re: The People Who Make This Possible
I would like to donate to the forum but I don't have a paypal account in my name, years ago a friend let me use her credit card and PayPal account using my own email address and since them I get messages from PayPal and I have tried to explain the situation so that I can get a PayPal account, finall...

Thanks Keymaster,
Enjoy your time in Honduras, perhaps if I was younger I might investigate your offer.
Cheers

Re: Why is there so much resistance to presence?
Thanks Manyana for the link, i will check it out when I have finished work. Thanks key master, I do understand the subtleties intellectually. But it is something I will pay more attention to and experiment with. The way I experience it is when I am enjoying what I am doing there is less debilitating...

Re: Why is there so much resistance to presence?
Thanks Phantom for your input, The thing with ET, is he says it better than anyone else I have come across. I am no stranger to addiction and am in a program that I greatly value along with ET. ET has said that he would prefer you to follow his suggestions than to read his books and I get that, for ...

Re: Why is there so much resistance to presence?
Hi Wander, I strongly identify with your post. What ET says has so much truth that I feel and understand on the level of the mind and at times when I do go into it I have a fleeting, something, a reduction in thinking, a bit more intense than a good cup of coffee. On Monday I took a 3 hour bus ride ...

Re: Introductions
Hi Rustus,
Look forward to reading your experiences and practices. I often recommend Eckhart Tolle to people, it's quite interesting that the people I am closest to don't even bother to read him. To be honest though there are few spiritual teachers that I bother to read or listen to.

Re: Doubts about this relationship
Present tense, imagine it was someone else, not you, that started this thread. What would you say to the person, what advice would you give? From what is written it seems pretty obvious that the guy doesn't want the level of commitment and intimacy that you want, yet you hang in there hoping it will...

Re: Enlightenment bliss vs chemical bliss (drugs)
There was a time when I would self medicate with alcohol and could not imagine how I could ever cope or enjoy life without it. ET said something, I can't quote verbatim about the world would be even crazier or a bigger mess if people didn't use drugs to calm themselves down, something to that effect...

Hi Atte 72,
I really enjoyed your analogy using sea, bottles and our separation from oneness. I will take that with me thoughout the day.
Thanks for sharing

Re: Describe your daily practice ?
Hi Bobdylanfan fan, Good enquiry, I have been wondering about how people implement the practice of consciousness into their daily lives as well. I usually wake up early around five and lie in bed with my thoughts trying not to follow them down the rabbit hole, then I will go to my recovery forum, re...
