Pseudo Art

When Eckhart talks about pseudo art, what do you think he means by this? I don't mean to be insulted by it, but it does seem like he only appreciates very abstract art and dismisses most things you'd see in magazines/books (illustrations/comics/cartoos) as shallow and ultimately unfilfilling. Like W...

Finding it hard to seperate the man from the message

Every time I try to practice presence, I almost immediately hear Tolle's voice, quoting wise things, thinking of the pointers he gives.
While this isn't necessarily bad, it's still mind activity and not space and stillness.

Does anyone have tips for this?

Some observations/questions

I've been listening and reading Tolle for about a year now. I've gone in and out of presence, there have been times when I simply wanted to throw aside all spiritual teachings and revert back to unconciousness. But now I feel like the "flowering" is starting to happen and the teachings that were bef...

Re: Coffee Drinking and Enlightenment (A Survey)

I have long suspected that caffeine is a severe imbalance in my life that has caused adrenal fatigue and anxiety. Also, I feel like I have become physically and phsychologically dependent on it. When I do take it I try to rationalize it, one cup isn't so bad, but soon it just gets out of hand and I ...

Re: "Losing myself in actions", is it consciousness or uncon

I think not because fighting and arguing with people is an egoic activity.

When working on something with deep concentration you're mostly free of ego and fully focussed on the task, present in the moment, and not on mind and ego.

How come some unconcious people can be happy?

In my environment I know there are a lot of people who are not into spirituality or presence at all. They are pretty much just taken up by their minds, life and social life. But they seem just happy. Very egoic as in, looking for social approval, playing the game, seeing flaws in others, gossipping,...

Why the strict moderation?

This forum is interesting and informative, but I find it frustrating that posts only appear after a day or so because it first has to be approved by a moderator. I don't want to criticize, it just seems to cut off a lot of the interactiveness. When you've made a post you don't want to wait a week be...

Re: Has your happiness improved since discovering Tolle?

I felt like you OP, for a long time. I'm about the same age. When introduced to Tolle's teachings I kind of didn't fully grasp them yet. I constantly thought "What would Tolle say and do" in this or that situation and I couldn't focus on making an effort of improving my life. I also read stuff like ...

Re: Personality Vs The Now

Hey, (new to the forum btw) I saw this thread and it made me think of my own experiences with practicing the Power of Now. (during brief intervals during the last couple of months). "Personality" plays a big part in our lifes. We all want to be liked, and people hate it when others turn quiet and th...
