Wow! So beautifully written, Onceler! I quite enjoyed "hearing" about your experiences of deep listening.
I feel from your post a wonderful energy flowing as you are listening to your life speak. The judging mind is melting, softening the separation between consciousness and life itself.

Re: Cognitive Dissonance & Morality
Well, I realize biblical literalism exerts a tenacious grip! The usual response that stems from this mentality is to abandon and reject religion, to conclude there is no relevance to the Bible, to see no alternative but to dismiss all religion in general, Christianity in particular. Seems there are ...

Beautiful Sandy.
Sing it Billy!
Slow down, you're doing fine.
You can't be everything you wanna be before your time...
You know, that when the truth is told, that you can get what you want or you can just get old...

Good observation. Receiving can be difficult. It can open the door to feelings of vulnerability.Fore wrote:...it was meant as a simple compliment. That must have been a challenging experience to navigate.

Wow, Danny, I forgot that you were 16! Wow, you are one smart fella. And no wonder there is some confusion. You are 16! Give yourself some time, and pat yourself on the back now for all your curiosity and interest.
Btw...why aren't you in school? Have you done your homework?

Poll:December 16, 2013 - A new Harris Poll finds that while a strong majority (74%) of U.S. adults do believe in God..... I realize there are statistics that supposedly reveal something about what people believe and how they practice their faith. I don't find much there in those numbers of interest...

Hi Maire! High fives! Fist bumps! I loved your post. Excellent.
I couldn't agree more that Sandy's quotes from the Bible are bandied about for Spirit-filled, heart-felt, Good reason!

No heaven and hell do not exist in the way Christians describe. Which Christians? It is worth noting that there are 2,200,000,000 Christians on the planet. Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Moravians, Baptists, Catholics, I could go on and on. And within those denominations there...

Re: Cognitive Dissonance & Morality
I would like to suggest that when reading sacred texts, "inspired writings," some inspired reading is necessary! Engaging scripture for its transformative message requires not taking the writings literally. Literalism offers the lowest and least level of meaning. Sacred texts from any faith traditio...

Re: Cognitive Dissonance & Morality
What I want to understand is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH. You can't get to truth through the reasoning process, as Maire noted. The human mind can't grasp it. We can't know truth as an object, we can only be truth. Yes... beyond the surface view of the darkest picture, a higher good does dawn and bring ligh...
