Re: Psychological Self vs. No-Self

I would further argue its possible that even more selves are operating at any one time. I'm not sure if others will see my view...but I just wanted to try and put it out there. Your view makes sense to me. :D Here's a study of the Selves that is rarely seen. Check it out....... http://www.voicedial...

Re: Psychological Self vs. No-Self

WOW! Thanks for that link! I have long wanted to read something about the seeming gap between psychology and spirituality and this does it quite well for me. I worked very hard to repair and empower my self/ego but reached a point where there just had to be something more or better, so I re-entered ...

Re: Knowledge of Self and work

Ramana dropped out completely, but that was the special Indian culture he lived in. Tolle kind of dropped out but seems to have made a living for himself.

Re: Do quite a few of these apply to you?

1. A sense of having a specific mission or purpose involving a major transformation in human experience, but being unable to articulate what this change might be. To me that smacks of early childhood emotional damages from dysfunctional parenting which causes the victim to look for something to fil...

Re: Let's Choose our Thoughts

I think the solution to many people's problems is that they let their thoughts think them. IMO,my thoughts are not and never were the "problem". Misidentification is my problem! I, a divine Being, have somehow come to believe that I am a fragile, limited, vulnerable, temporary, egoic, individual/pe...

Re: Awakening, then waxing and waning back to ego.

However, the ego eventually returns and awareness slips away to be replaced with ego again that becomes deeply asleep, until major suffering occurs again. Thoughts? ..Comments? Ramana Maharshi said: "When you forget who you are, ask your self ~ Who am I?" For me, the answer can only be: me = a litt...

IMO, this may be the best and most useful exploration of the ego (selves) that anybody has done so far - check it out....http://www.voicedialogue.org/FAQ/What_a ... Selves.htm

Re: Envy

He's the man.How can we join with JK ? How can we understand him, how can we share his understanding ? Even he said at the end of his life that no-one understood - a warning to us. That sounds like bad/faulty self esteem to me! Was he really that vain and insecure? A few days before his death...

Re: Envy

There's no one I've run into who is better at getting to the bottom of psychological suffering -- from a Eastern spiritual perspective -- than Jiddu Krishnamurti. Check this out, it might be helpful for you: Krishnamurti: Do you know what envy means? You are nice looking, you are finely dressed, or...

Re: Envy

To me, envy is simply about bad/low self worth and terrible self esteem. A self respecting/accepting person would NEVER hold envy or jealousy of anyone or anything. I am not sure what ET says about this but I'd imagine he would recommend some strategy to fix your envy and bad/low self worth or you c...

Re: The Now is boring

Yes I would say the spiritual state is just being totally surrendered to life. Of being open to whatever arises. Is this what you are seeking? To return to the natural state of innocence, vulnerability and openness? Not necessarily. Not in-and-of-itself. But I have been told by all sorts of spiritu...

Re: The Now is boring

I have always (consciously and unconsciously) thought of this background unhappiness as my natural state. And much of society will back you up on that assumption because very few people are ever motivated to deeply examine their own experiences to see/feel what actually causes this "boredom" that t...

Re: repressing my thoughts

Another way to put this...Even when I choose to stay present I am anxious because there are many thoughts about what I should do (with my life, or any situation) and I don't know how to address those because I don't know what I truly want and feel like being in the moment and letting decisions be m...
