Re: awareness and thoughts

Yeh i tried some meditation but find that it is very challenging at this time of the day, i let me thoughts be but always end up thinking more at the end! Compared to meditating sometime during the day or at night.

awareness and thoughts

Certain teachings point to bringing awareness to certain things to slow down the thinking mind. For some reason first thing in the morning is when my mind is racing with thoughts, i notice throughout the day it seems to be quieter. It is easy to fall into feeling stress and tense in these moments i ...

Daily practice

After reading eckhart and experiencing presence awareness i have tried out different techniques in my daily life to see how it can be integrated. Simply finding spontaneous moments throughout the day where i can invite a presence seems to work best, in that way there is no conflict where i cannot st...

The Mystery Experience By Tim Freke

Half way through this book, would really recommend it. He provides a very clear description of how to gain access to the mystery experience. It's a positive read and clears the mind of any misunderstandings, the grounds of the whole book is about the gift of life. It also offers an understanding of ...

Thin line nihilism / Zen

It seems that people have to have some reason to start in their own search for a 'meaning in life'. When we read eckhart's and various others teachings we end up following a path, but ultimately at the end have to take on the experience into our own lives. The challenge becomes apparent when we take...

Re: direction lost

Supporting WW's fine comments, Ken Wilber's book "Integral Life Practice" suggests that development in several "quadrants" such as social and psychological are also needed to fully integrate any spiritual growth. Andy - i completely agree with this, i have realized that they are important aspects o...

Re: Meditate or not?

Meditation has been pivotal on my path. It began with self enquiry -'I am, I am, I am' (a different spin on the usual 'What am I?') ... until I recognised the simple pure awareness of my being. Meditation was then just resting in/as this pure being. True meditation is simply your natural state of b...

Re: Meditate or not?

The center of most of the teachings are looking from a non dualistic perspective and i wonder weather meditation does contradict this! From reading up on different techniques it seems that most traditional methods just help create a good concentration. I think maybe the term sitting could be better ...

Re: How to to convince people to spirituality.

You can't really 'convince' someone to read a book. You could tell him what you have learnt and how it has helped you. In that way you are offering first person experience, he then may become more accepting to other ideas. It does seem that when someone goes through a certain level of suffering that...

Re: direction lost

Thanks for the reply! It has been a great help and put a lot into perspective. I realised that is where the problem arises, when you view life through the conceptual idea that there is no 'me' rather than the experience!

Meditate or not?

Different teaching point toward regular meditation. But is meditation not also supporting duality? 'Someone' who is sitting there meditating. I think eckhart mentions that he spends certain time of the day in presence. Krishnamurti mentioned that you will be invited to that presence but not when sea...

Re: Understand the pain body or just feel it.

Helloo, The feelings are only negative because you label them to be, Try to look at them without judgment. I always find an interesting question to ask yourself in these moments is "who is experiencing these feeling, thought etc' and try to search for the entity that is associating with the feeling,...

Re: Feel desperate

Hi Sirius, I can give you a couple of pointers when any of the challanges you have mentioned arise, ask you self who is experiencing these feelings and start a small search for the self, if you find something take a closer look and you will realise that is doesn't exist. Without giving an explanatio...

direction lost

Over the past year i have been integrating eckharts teachings into my life, but have come to a point where i feel the 'i' have lost direction. Things that i previously valued i don't any more and now seem to have no direction or motivation to do anything! When looking back on before i could see the ...
