Francis Bennett Retreat

I recently became aware that the upcoming silent retreat with Francis Bennett has some places left. Francis was a Trappist monk for many years, was taught vipassana by Jack Kornfield and currently teaches in the lineage of Adyashanti. "Francis embodies a rare combination of profound insight, open-he...

Re: How important is to follow STRICTLY precepts ?

The version of the commandments you describe WW feels so much more true than the one we commonly hear. It has a totally different feel to it and rings true with the words of someone living in the revelation of God's Love.

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

You don't have to imagine it JTL. You can't imagine it. But you are living it. You literally are it. It's the ground of everything you've experienced through the filter of space/time/matter. Your very nature is beyond time. Gently pay attention to your present moment experience in the body and this ...

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

I like that JTL. I was watching Eckhart Tolle yesterday and he quoted Socrates - "the wise man knows he knows nothing". What we believe we know is not Reality - it's just a thought. In the absence of the belief of knowing comes the clarity of actual Reality. Lovely stuff :)

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

Francis just posted a link on his Facebook page about a talk he and Adya will be giving on the combined teachings of Christ and Buddha. He said the Christ seeks to enter into the body and disturb our comfort zone to move us into activity in ourselves and society, while the Buddha seeks to leave the ...

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

I find it heartening that we're sharing these new developments. Sometimes I wonder if humanity will make it. When I see people coming together like this, I think there is hope. Rach, I think your photo says a great deal about your comment. That there is a light and dark that are co-existing together...

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

Good to see you too E2B - lovely to see some familiar faces! I'm glad you resonate with those words. They're a paraphrasing of my teacher, Francis. I think it's such an integral part of the path to fully embrace our own uniqueness as an exclusive entity. Why would the Infinite Love come into a limit...

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

I found that very moving Rach. It's hard to put into words why. I think because I am passionate that both the individual and the total are equally vital and I'm so heartened to see you share that same passion here. I agree that many teachings focus more on one side than another. I suspect that most ...

Re: Embodying awareness

Haha what are the chances?! That's so funny! I'd love to know more but perhaps that's better over pm or something. I'm always curious about other students if they feel like sharing. I agree, he's a very sensitive and caring person. He and Adya make a great team. I'm looking forward to seeing more of...

Re: Embodying awareness

Seeing our individuality as a problem is something I can quite irritated by. I felt some of that in your posts so it triggered me a bit. That's something for me to look at in myself.

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

Yeah it's the personality which knows itself to be included in the full experience of Life as a whole. So it doesn't feel the need to fight with Life, because it IS Life! By moving with the current of Life, personal essence has far more creative power behind it to solve problems and create a peacefu...

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

I've heard a good teaching on this recently which helps give some balance to the ego vs no ego situation. According to the teaching there is a dysfunctional type of ego called ego-centricity - the individual sense of self, the feeling of being this specific individual, that believes that this indivi...
