Re: eckhart tolle tour too expensive

I think this sort of question is healthy and shouldn't be frowned upon. If it helps someone to feel more comfortable with his teachings, then I don't see a problem with it. Hopefully I can add some comments/ideas to this discussion. I was wondering, when Eckhart first wrote his book and gave it to a...

Re: Are names spiritual?

Interesting question and one I was wondering about myself.

Names are not spiritual, however, they may point to a spiritual essence. Maybe that is why spiritual teachers change their names?

Re: Socially alienated

Tolle speaks ''about not reacting to content'' and what happens to me is that when I speak to someone else, I'm being so present that I don't even speak. I just listen carefully to the other person, without any positive/negative attachment to the conversation. Most people merely chatter around when...

Re: So lost...

You know, the beauty of being in this moment is that life unfolds beautifully without any strain or effort. Your presence is the foundation that holds onto all forms loosely. It's this lose grip that makes you excited about life and you begin to dance with the many forms life takes. Your true creati...

Re: Random question: do animals have an ego?

Do animals have an ego? I would say a certain no. Let me try and explain why. What is ego and what does it mean to have one? You could say that having an ego means to be identified with something to a level that your own consciousness is blanketed out. The key word being identified. When you are ide...

Re: Age

Oh, and another thing, age is just another form....try not to identify with it. 8) Age is not really a form ... but the body is a form ... and age is an attribute (or a property) of the body ... when there is no identification with the body, you are timeless ... Yeah, that's where I was going...

Re: Dealing with my very unconscious, high temper dad

Clouded, It is an unfortunate situation to be in, but the only action to take is no action unless the situation becomes violent, which in that case you would walk away. Taking no action means watching the situation, being the observer, being peaceful and NOT reacting. By not reacting, your stillness...

Re: Millions & Millions Are Awakening. Where Are They?

Where are these millions and millions of people who are awakening? I live in southern California, about 1.5 hours from Los Angeles, the second largest city in the USA. I'm a social person and I don't know one person who meditates on a daily basis and/or attempts to be in the now. At the Zen Monaste...

Re: Age

Interesting to see the age groups here. Just turned 29 recently. Came across Eckhart when I was 27.

I guess though that we all could say that we have been awakening since birth.

deepocean, Firstly, I love your username! It's really beautiful. It is nice to see that another human is going through the awakening process. I myself have been in this transitioning period over the past couple of years, but in reality, it has been happening since the day I was born. It's only now t...

Re: What will happen to this society of ours?

Human society, the way I see it, could really go two directions. Either innovation will continue and we'll eventually make a huge discovery that will change everything, or our capability to adapt will be unable to meet new challenges and our society will crumble. Our society is different in some wa...

Re: This I know

Hey Jack, I think self awareness is the 'aware of awareness' which is the ability to know that we are aware. I'd say humans are one of the few creatures on the planet that have this quality. Granted, I'm sure smileyjen would probably have some beef with me over that :D I agree with your take on evo...

Re: Yoga journal article on Fear

See, for me it isn't about my identify as the speaker. I don't get anxious because I am worry that the person who the speaker is might fail. Instead, I get anxious because I think I might die from the powerful physical sensations. Consider this. Your physical symptoms are the result of your fear of...

Re: Biocentrism: Theory of universe centered on consciousnes

I find it fascinating that we (humans) are continually trying to figure out what life is really about. We may perceive this, believe that, have a theory on this, but in the end it doesn't really matter. We will never understand life's mysteries whilst we are here on Earth. Who knows though? Maybe I ...
