Re: Difficulties observing severe emotional pain

Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. Suffering is another layer on top of the pain which is caused by thought.

Re: If my process of awakening has not begun - what then?

The best way to "no-self" is to subtract everything that is not you. You are not your thoughts, emotions, or body. If you are not your thoughts, emotions or body. What is it that is left? Contemplate on this and you will find your true self. There is something in you that has not changed since child...

One thing about social anxiety is that people are reduced to a means to an end. You use people to project, enhance, maintain, or even destroy your mental image.

I believe in psychology its called impression management.

Re: vegetarian/vegan

From the most basic level of consciousness, identification with forms, eating meat can be deemed unethical.

From an absolute perspective its just the rebirth of form.

My life will fall apart without worrying?

I've come to the conclusion that people would be happier without their self talk. If we could reduce our self-talk by 80% our mental health and concentration would improve. But at the same time I have an awareness of this thought that tells me my life will fall apart without my worrying self-talk. S...

Re: Personal experiences of a 24 year old and Question

Don't look for any other state than the one you at right now. This is the key. You are remembering the past feeling of presence and then you interpret the present moment through this past emotional memory. Just allow the present moment to be, don't chase the feeling of presence because presence has...

Re: Awareness in inanimate objects?

I must not label my ego in any way and just allow it to be. I will always have an ego despite going through what I think is referred to as ego death (breaking free from everything I identified with). Thus, I must come to peace with it and fully accept it. Ego death has revealed to me that my ego is ...

Re: Tips on how to control anger (and stop seeking for reven

Notice your bordem. Notice your restlessness. Notice negative thoughts. Let them be. You don't have to be drawn into every emotion or thought. Just watch them like clouds going by. Many times you'll drift back into thinking. Don't hurt yourself or get mad at yourself for this. It just happens. The m...

Re: I feel lonely and its' slowly eating me up alive

SJD, I know that it's for the best to unconditionally accept my parents conditioning, but the drive to get even with my torturers is so strong that I need to express it. To defend myself when I am feeling threatened comes naturally. Out of all the people that I have met in my life, I find it the ea...

Re: Awareness in inanimate objects?

Fighting your ego in your mind is a 'negative' response, isn't it? Calling your ego the 'enemy' is a negative response, isn't it? I am not fighting my ego, as I said I accept the ego. Calling my ego the enemy is a judgement or a label. Whether that is positive or negative is again a judgement. It's...

Re: Awareness in inanimate objects?

The ego is the part of me that is identified with what the mind is telling me. I see it as an enemy. I don't treat this enemy with hostility or anger, however, I accept it. I'm still putting on an ego when I interact with the world but I'm aware of it now. When the ego starts to bring suffering to ...

Re: Awareness in inanimate objects?

There's no reason to believe that any thing in form is not continually changing in response to and with other elements of energy in motion. What is experienced as natural selection, reproduction and death in humans is species specific to those combinations and properties of elements of energy in mo...

Re: Awareness in inanimate objects?

The witnessed is witnessed by the witness. The witness is the door to nothingness (awareness). Nothingness is one, the space. Duality has ceased. Nothingness, the witness, and the witnessed have merged. This sounds fascinating. What is it like as an experience? Love I can't conceptually explain it,...

Re: Dealing with my very unconscious, high temper dad

I posted this in your other thread but it might help someone who is reading this one and is going through a similar experience. Reading about your parents reminds me of a story I read in Mathiue Ricard's book Happiness. It was about a monk who arrived in Tibet after spending 25 years in a Chinese la...
