Re: How can I handle unpleasant emotions

I find that any emotions of helplessness and nihilism are the most difficult. For some reason, I have noticed this attachment to anger, only because it feels empowering and strong. Then I thought back and remembered how there were times where I felt utterly helpless against nihilistic forces, and co...

Is the ego a necessary process of adulthood and maturity

It seems like much we associate with Childhood seems ego transcendent, such as their ability to be in the present, non-duality, wonder, non-judgment and a sense of wholeness. While adulthood is associated with egoic traits of skepticism, judgment, concern for time and a sense of separateness.

How can I handle unpleasant emotions

I find this is what causes overthinking for me. I use thoughts to suppress feelings that I dont really want to be there, and then overanalyze the feelings, or want to blame others or my environment for negative feelings. I find I become resentful towards people over times they had acted in a shaming...

Re: What can I do with my aversion to responsibility?

I have found in myself that much of my aversion to responsibility is that I dont like is the idea that responsibility is more important than freedom. In some respects, I have found that people are willing to sacrifice their own freedom for responsibility, intrude on others freedom for the sake of re...

What can I do with my aversion to responsibility?

Basically, I feel like responsibility is really a necessary evil. But I feel like I am supposed to think responsibility is so great. Then I noticed that much of the stuff I take offense to, primarily concepts of maturity, overbearing people, unwanted advice or busybodies is that it taunts this contr...

Has anyone else experienced empirical sensory overload?

This has been a difficulty I have been experiencing for a while, where I notice way too much content. I have felt like I notice too much sensory data to the point where I notice too many imperfections, and see everything as emptiness. However, I find that it is much more difficult to let go of empir...

Re: Senex and Puer Aeternus and Utopian thinking

One day ago, I just turned 30, and something is telling me that I am too old for any puer aeternus thinking, and need to submit to the senex thinking. But frankly, I dont really want to, and it seems just not right. I know they say that 30 is the new 20, but I cannot help but think that age is just ...

Re: How can I detach from anger when I hate anxiety/depressi

I sometimes wonder if anger is really so dignifying or if its just proud. It seems like Anger has an appeal of some form of self empowerment, where one wants to change something that displeases them, and if something cannot be done to at least refuse to be sucked into and accommodate what has happe...

Re: Senex and Puer Aeternus and Utopian thinking

I found an interesting video this morning with Jordan Peterson in dialogue with two Orthodox iconographers. What was interesting was how truth was explained as the integration with facts and ideals. What this has to do with the senex and puer aeternus is the way that I have observed the natural way ...

Resentment towards the minds knowledge

Now I have found that the mind sees a world where object is greater than subject. My mind is no exception. But frankly a world where object is greater than subject is blatantly oppressive. The postmodern philosophies seem to understand the same truth. Now the questions is how to move beyond this way...

Re: Difficulty with moral grey area

Yes of course the angry religious zealot lacks acceptance as does the majority of activists. Many activists have very heavy pain bodies and their 'cause' is just a porthole for their pain body. They can be very troubled and angry people and toxic to be around. Patrick This reminds me of Richard Roh...

Does the ego actually have free will

This has been something that has bothered me, in seeing that some people seem to have more will power than others. At least on the cognitive level, it does not seem like we choose what we want, or can just will ourselves to be a certain way. Like with mental illness, people cannot just snap out of i...

Re: Difficulty with moral grey area

I have noticed this week that much of the difficulty with moral grey area is the way the true self I find can become negotiable. I guess the best way I would describe it as the clash between moral pragmatism and moral idealism. With moral pragmatism, I find that people can be too compromising of the...

Re: Difficulty with moral grey area

I think part of the difficulty in acceptance is feeling that it is equivalent to defeat. In this respect, saying yes to the present as it takes form feels like saying no to how we wish things were. It feels like your surrendering yourself to an indifferent outside world that doesnt give a care about...
