Re: CANNOT cope with this fear

WHO cannot cope with the fear? WHO is fed up? Who thinks their life sucks? Have you read Eckhart Tolle's account of when he awoke from identification with his mind? All his depression, fear etc vanished because he realised he was not the self who was fearful and depressed, he was the witnessing of a...

Re: Something all 'spiritual seekers' should watch!

Unfortunately the video doesn't exist now, but I found a very useful article which may have been related to what the videos were about: https://www.gurusfeet.com/blog/adyashanti-being-quot-stuck-quot-quot-emptiness-quot For those who want a quick explanation, Adya describes how people can get stuck ...

Re: Consciousness

Although not completely related, if you've ever had an experience of 'waking up' within a nightly dream (a lucid dream) and realising you are dreaming and able to control the dream in real time, you can see that it's an example of how we become aware of awareness itself, even while supposedly asleep...

Re: Powerlessness in the face of suffering

Yesterday I wrote a fairly long response but when I went to send it my laptop lost signal and I lost the post. Annoying, but a lesson in letting go!! I will copy my posts in future though. WW, I also find comfort in the knowledge of our evolution and that our difficulties in life can be seen in that...

Re: Powerlessness in the face of suffering

Hi WW, yes I can see the difference between being Pollyannaish and developing a higher perspective of the situation. Unfortunately things have worsened now, but I am clear on what action needs to be taken on one level of the situation. On the other, I'm trying to be in the moment and remain open to ...

Re: Have you changed your diet ?

Onceler, that's really great. Do you mind if I ask if your diet consists of legumes, wholegrains, nuts seeds etc? I'm just curious how peoples diets have worked for them. I have such severe problems with food and I struggle to find a suitable diet.

Re: Powerlessness in the face of suffering

WW, thanks so much for such a thoughtful and informative reply. By creating a context and seeing the situation from a spiritually conscious viewpoint, do you mean along the lines of what it could be teaching those involved, how we can all grow from it, and/or understanding the limitations of certain...

Powerlessness in the face of suffering

What I seem to find hardest to deal with is complete powerlessness in the face of suffering - not so much mine but witnessing that of other people. There is a situation very close to me where this is occurring and it's one I can't walk away from, for a multitude of reasons (can't go into them here)....

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

The more I remain in the place of witnessing, the better my life flows. Again, I encourage you to learn to laugh. Life can be fun more often than we know. As I've said before, life is too important to be taken seriously. WW I agree, humour is so healing. During some of the darkest times of my life ...

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

The Untethered Soul is an amazing book. I'm sure you will find it enlightening. WW explains it better than I can. I tend to get caught up in over-analysing, but the mind, body and emotions are all interconnected; they're part of us and at the same time there's witnessing it all. The more I remain in...

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

Your therapist is correct - The brain is in charge of the intinctive 'fight or flight' response, which triggers fear and/or action in the face of a threat. It is this part of our physiology that we share with animals, insects etc and is concerned with survival. The 'rational mind' can be viewed as a...

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

Yeah I can hear that you need help. Without wanting to be annoying, this is my final thought: Have you tried accepting the fear? Can you love all of you? I can imagine how upsetting and frustrating the last few years have been in dealing with all the anxiety and fear, but have you turned it around s...

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

I'm sorry that you're struggling so much. I still think you might benefit from in depth therapy to examine the root of this anxiety. These engrained emotional patterns dont leave until they're properly felt and processed. I feel all this anxiety is a mask for deeper issues.

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

Being fully present doesn't mean you have to like any kind of experience. It's being aware of your experience, your reactions to it, even your non-acceptance/resistance to it. And as WW said, no one can remain present all the time anyway! With my health issues, I try to live in a way that supports m...
