Re: Who or What?

That's a really useful point and really well put. I can already feel the value in asking myself what I am as opposed to who I am. You're right that asking 'who' limits any enquiry within the idea of identity. Thanks for sharing this - I'm going to start asking myself tonight.

Re: What about when you don't agree

Thanks Fiona for clarifying what I meant about being caught in the loop. I'm new to the forum and also to expressing these ideas to others so I may not translate very well. Yes it's really important to honour the thoughts and feelings as part of the human experience - there's nothing wrong with them...

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

Hi, just another thought. Tolle talks a lot about the pain body, which is activated to various degrees depending on how deep the emotional pain goes and how much this has been processed or not. The pain body takes over the person to the extent sometimes that they don't have any control over what the...

Re: In need of some serious help!!!

Hi Sami Can I ask what sort of therapy you had because finding the right therapist who you click with can be so helpful for this kind of thing. The very strong thoughts you describe most likely have their roots in deeper issues and it's not always a matter of being able to remain present and examine ...

Re: The Untethered Soul - Michael Singer

I also thoroughly recommend this book. One of the most clarifying books I have read on how to get beyond identifying with thoughts and get to that place of pure awareness.

Re: Hobbies after Enlightenment

The nature of my interests has changed a bit in recent years since I fully committed to this path, but in obvious ways. For instance, I'm an avid reader, but rather than read psychological thrillers which I used to love, I'm now more likely to read inspirational and other types of novels, ones that ...

Re: What about when you don't agree

Well you've noticed all that, which is an excellent start and more than most people do! But focus on the space between your breaths and pay attention to your immediate environment, something neutral like a plant outside the office window, and keep paying attention to your breaths. You will start to ...

Re: Hello, seeking awakening !

Welcome Bryan! I've just joined too. You're making perfect sense. It's in staying focussed in that spaciness beyond thought that peace dwells. As you rightly say, reading is one thing, a helpful tool, but the real 'progress' is in experiencing the stillness within and bringing it forth into our dail...

Re: Do You Believe People People Are Becoming More Conscious?

I definitely agree with your observations that people seem to be more triggered and short tempered. That has also been my experience of dealing with people. I like to think that the increasing unconsciousness will give way to the light of awareness eventually so hopefully it all has its place in the...

Re: Location

I'm not sure the elderly in particular can be seen as more conscious than the rest of us. This is the generation that have likely lived through world war 2 and traumatic experiences doesn't always lead to increased awareness, very often the opposite is the case. In contrast I think a lot more people...

Re: The Age of Awakening

I'm so late to this thread but wanted to say what an excellent interview this is and thanks so much to whoever posted it. ET is an incredibly wise teacher. I particularly like these thoughts of his: But beware of excessive attachment to these things and the constant need for more, which is not a tru...

Re: Gaia TV

I'm not a massive TV watcher but I do like to watch something on the odd evening. I signed up to Gaia a few months ago after trying out a few shows advertised on Netflix. I'm really glad I did! Like you, I've noticed how violent the shows on Netflix (and probably elsewhere) are becoming, and find it...

Re: Why no sublime sense of Depth and Being?

Jonski I really get this, and I think you've had lots of helpful points. I'm not sure I can contribute much except to say that I found the same for a long time but eventually the meditation deepened and so did the experience. I wouldn't say I experience bliss as such but a deep sense of inner peace....
