Good point.

I'm reminded of what Jesus said: "Give no thought for the morrow".

Only I would add my version along with his: "Give no thought for the mirror".

Re: Enlightenment without a teacher?

As one who struggles with the same sort of things as you do, I can assure you that for me it has gotten much easier. It’s still a question of pulling myself back into the present hundreds of times a day, and yet… Who is pulling and who is resisting? I suppose it basically comes down to this: you and...

Thanks for sharing that point of view of Eckhart's.
It certainly makes sense to me.

I love the way you put this. It's so true, I find.
It's difficult to explain it to people, but once you get it, it's powerful.
And you begin to see the teaching everywhere.

Teasing is painful. Why do we do it? It is a way for the pain body to express itself under the guise of witty charming fellow. I have asked my companion to tell me when it hurts her. When a joke becomes a painful tease. It is a fine line, but one that I want to see. The seeing and choosing not to do...

Why look at a guru' s process of dying from something you perceive as nasty... ? You're right, there's quite a strong tendency to view cancer as something nasty. I do so. But strangely enough, most people who have it don't quite share that viewpoint. I've been translating from Italian into English ...

Of course thought is going to go on and on. You couldn't stop it even if you wanted to.

If you never had another thought in your life, you might as well be a fish. (Wink to Adya)

Dear Web, I have been reflecting on your answer above over the past couple of days. I have printed it out and taped it to the inside of my head. It’s refreshing and clear. Thanks. Okay, so if negative karma is pain, what is positive karma? What are the “rewards for being good”? It is the ripples on the pond, reflecting off the shores to return to their origin. Very nice image. Could it be therefore that the reward is greater awareness. So that in terms of spiritual evolution ...
