Re: Help!!!!!

I second Webwanderer's comments. I will add this: People who have a solid background in understanding the implications of following an awakening "path" will likely not become freaked out and confused when they shed the confines of an egoic viewpoint. More likely it's those who have awakened spontane...

Re: Help!!!!!

When you say focus behind your body is that the back of your body from the inside or the actual back of your body from the outside if that makes sense. Don't overthink this. Simply shift attention away from what's physically in front of you, what the body is feeling and what's happening in the mind...

Re: Slightly Confused

The ego is not a substantial entity in its own right, it's only an appearance in the thinking process that masquerades as a separate you that has become identified with and attached to by the mind. In other words, one can remove the mask of the ego by seeing through and dropping the stories that hav...

Re: Help!!!!!

I have come to understand this is all Ego based (I think). I have had some extremely dark suicidal thoughts that have been frightening. Has this all been the story of the Ego? Yes. I have recently read The Untethered Soul by Michael A Singer and am now aware of the ever present awareness within us ...

Re: Is effort necessary to stay present?

One question to you, Kiki: do you think that is there a difference between do a formal meditation with the back upright and do it without paying attention to it? Upright (but not to the point of being uncomfortable) is an aide to ward off sleepiness. It also helps to breathe from the diaphragm bett...

Re: Is effort necessary to stay present?

I don't do cross-legged sitting due to bad knees, so I just sit on a chair or a couch, making sure my back is upright and not slouched. Staying in the present moment, for me, is like meditation, and that was why I let go of the meditation regimen that I had followed for nearly 30 years. That and the...

Re: Hello from Brazil

I am from a tiny town in northwest Wisconsin in the USA - Wisconsin has two Great Lakes on its borders, Lake Superior to the north and Lake Michigan to the east, and nearly 15,000 other lakes and countless streams and rivers. I would love to visit Brazil, and just today I was thinking it would be gr...

Re: Is effort necessary to stay present?

If you have a formal meditation practice and are a new meditator a regular meditation schedule would be best. However, if you've been meditating for some time meditate when you get the inspiration to do so. I no longer meditate to get some "spiritual" benefit from it. But I have returned to meditati...

Re: Is effort necessary to stay present?

I think you are doing wonderfully - just keep doing what you are doing. At some point being awake will be the default mode, and when it becomes obvious you have momentarily slipped back into something else that moment of recognition will be all that's needed to return to presence. Welcome to the for...

Re: School of Awakening certification with your name on it

If true I find this astounding and troubling. It could be the business people around Tolle who are promoting this, which is a ridiculous thing to begin with. If that's the case ET should have nixed the whole idea, in fact, in my opinion he still should. No one who is actually awake needs or even wan...
