Re: Not sure what to think re: very high prices for Tolle events

Suppose Jesus were alive today and giving talks and personal appearances. What would it cost to see him? As he charges nothing it's free. Yippee! Oh wait, He's in Jeruselem and I'm not. No problem, I'll just hop a plane for $700 to a $1000, spend another $400 to $600 on lodging, give up several day...

Re: Not sure what to think re: very high prices for Tolle events

No Eric, I am influenced quite deeply by the message itself. However, the credibility of the 'teacher' becomes less than solid when he/she chooses to become inaccessible and remote from those who thirst for a more personal connection with him/her. This need is natural, but thwarted by the very wordl...

Re: Not sure what to think re: very high prices for Tolle events

This is exactly what is so very disillusioning about all these 'enlightened' teachers'. Ultimately, their entire message of human oneness, etc., is lost in their fame and celebrity. Unlike you, I don't wonder whether Tolle, or others like him know about the ticket prices and merchandising that goes ...

Money

How much is enough? If life in it's pure form is so exquisite, and Tolle claims to live 'there', it makes no sense to charge people just to see him and hear his teachings on simplicity. This is the reason I stopped reading books and watching PBS programs of Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer. In one of th...

Thank you all so much, and keep the posts coming. In the final analysis, it's communication between us humans that makes life worthwhile. I am having some small, very small breakthroughs by the age-old method of 'Let go and let God'. My hesitation in using that word, god, is for all the same reasons...

Is it possible that some form of prayer to Being is in order, or are we left to make the shift, or the change in perspective on our own? I've never believed in loud praying and parrotlike grace before meals stuff, but just wondering if the 'ineffable' source of all would be inclined to lend a hand u...

Tolle and others make it sound too easy to be in the present moment. I find it exhausting to try and fail at the simple task of saying 'yes' to the present moment.

I know I sounded bitter and negative, and not a little envious. Thanks for the reply. My biggest block is an inability to give up the struggle. My 'pain body' seems to be so strongly me that I have nothing but pain and depression. My life situation has a LOT to do with this, and the teaching addrese...

Reality?

There is such a lot of verbiage here! It's seems childish to keep talking about enlightenment ad nauseum. Getting to the truth or enlightenment should not be such a struggle, surely! And my personal gripe is, why do these men and women (spiritual teachers) have to charge such exorbitant rates for ap...

I, too, have the same question buzzing around in my head, and know that that's the last place I will find the answer! It could be true that we ARE already in that state you describe , but it is obscured by the noise of our incessant demands that things be just as we want them to be. Can we learn to ...

may i ask ? what does benzo mean? Benzos are short for benzodiazepines, a class of tranquillizers. Valium was the original; other, more potent versions, all big moneymakers for the drug companies are:- Klonopin, Xanax, Ativan. They are very addictive, and have terrible tolerance and withdrawal effe...

Too simple?

Having gone through a horrible experience on a benzo for two years, and subsequent medically supervised but terribly inappropriate withdrawal, I was suicidally depressed. The last few months have been much better, and the horror is a distant memory now. A dear friend who had the same experience sent...

Glad to have found this forum.

Hello all, My name is Ivan. I'm 64 tears old. Don't know what more to say right now, but I'm sure I will as I get to know some of you better. In the meantime, may I say that I find Tolle to be a remarkable human. He is so powerful, yet almost innocent and so unselfconscious! ( His funny little giggl...
