JJ, I have practiced basically the procedure you describe for many years. It has totally changed my life, including resolving medical conditions, and continues to do so. Your description was excellent IMO.

IMO there is the additional problem that conditioning is triggered by events and rises up "AS US" (we're identified with it) and only passes away as "NOT US" (now identified as egoic mind/false self/etc) IF we are able to achieve disidentification/impartiality during its "visit". Very well said...."watch" does create distance between the watcher and the object of watching, thus disidentify and pull the electrical plug from that object.
What really happens is often not pure watching, one may actually oscillate between identify and disidentify.
