but it's not the escape some people like to imagine it is. You're right. It's not an escape. It is facing everything as it is. The pain, the pleasure, the sadness, the elation---everything. All other "things" including a lot of what people characterize as planning are the escape mechanisms. In my e...

There isn't a direct connection between them but I've heard him mention her some time ago in one of his talks and he has good things to say about her.
Yes, she seems to speak clearly from direct experience. I can't see how you can fake that.

Kiki, what is Adya's connection to Gangaji again. Did I miss the explanation? Tolle, Adya, and Gangaji are three of my favorites. I've often wondered how each influenced the other The first time I read Diamond in your Pocket from Gangaji, I kept wondering what she was talking about when she said "wh...

I'll come back and read the rest later on (good thing I don't have to do it all now ).
Or you could just watch the thought that says "good thing I don't have to do it all now." That might be the only obstacle.

I believe that it does take time and practice to stabilize in peace, to integrate the temporary openings or brief awakenings that one experiences. I submit to you that this is what Eckhart was doing in his "lost" years, as was Jesus. The Buddha did not come to enlightenment suddenly without practic...

One needs to see when the point has been reached where that which is helpful, that which puts you in touch with the truth of who you are, has served its purpose. Buddha had the beautiful analogy of the "raft crossing the river" - once you have crossed the river, you don't carry the raft around with...

I wonder if I will remember these insights... Awareness is the most natural thing because it is who we are. You will realize that more and more as you watch. Then, you won't have to remember. The shift for me was apparent when I realized I spend most of my time in the present and visit past and fut...

Isn’t it amazing how difficult it is to just keep things simple? Yes, it reminds me of Adya's wife Mukti's teaching about watching the stop sign. For some reason this teaching helps me to see just how people complicate life and spirituality. You are Point A. Point A is seeking to know itself. So it...

Any search, any effort, any attempt is movement away from the simplicity of what you are.

I still wonder about the issues of repressed emotions not felt clearly. Does one go soul searching for them? From things said on this forum, it might not matter so much what the emotions are, rather the pattern of negativity is the problem? My suggestion is to cut all mental commentary out of the w...

A portal opened. But if a portal opened and immediately slammed shut, it could be discouraging and could create a longing to reproduce that moment. Right, and the spiritual seeker is then born, forever chasing her tail. Die to the past. :D With regard to the now experience mentioned above, sounds l...

And even that is comparing the past with the Now, so that means that I'm making time and I'm not being present so I quite with explaining. I think that you all understand what I'm trying to say. Yes. Every thought measures something (it reflects back, projects forward or judges the now) and if it m...

I've enjoyed these. Here is mine. Grew up spoiled. Got everything I wanted. Material possessions lost their shine by teen years. Discovered I was gay in 8th grade. Hid it for years. Lived a double life. Started using drugs. Came out of the closet. Songwriting career which I thought would take me to ...
