What are your feelings on Respect and Civility and the human condition?
In my experience, respect and civility comes more naturally through self-realization. I'm reminded of Tolle statement that you cannot obey the 10 Commandments until you know who you are on the deepest level.

The intention is only to clarify the nature of the self as it truly is - free of every identity.
This may just be a cultural or communication issue then.

Where there is belief there is normally at least some arrogance and egotism.
Nicely put, that is what identification with form brings, eh? More me.

I have made that mistake to quote in a forum where there is no respect or reverence for Scripture. The Scriptures themselves say never do that. My mistake and apologies. To me, the mistake is not failing to quote with respect for scripture. We all respect scripture which points to truth when we sha...

You feel that the universe is within you, its not a physical sensation. Its hard to explain. Have you ever gone really deep into meditation and felt your body as spaceless? Well its sort of like that except that space flows through everything you percieve in the moment and beyond. You feel your sou...

In my experience the mind can't grasp it. During the awakening in my life, I remember the point at which I saw all divisions, separations, groups, churches, schools, races as false, mind-made stuff. Just false. It no longer made any sense to me to pretend to be someone in relation to someone else. A...

For some reason the following Adyashanti saying came to mind when I read this thread: He says something like the greatest spiritual practice is to recognize what is already happening. :)

Disidentifying from the role of teacher

Something amazing happened to me some time ago. I had been reading Tolle's books for quite a while. I was experiencing a big change in consciousness. But, in some ways, the role of teacher or knower of spiritual truths, so to speak, had crept up into my head without my realizing it. I was unconsciou...

understanding the process of awakening such as Adyashanti has described it in the “three stages”, is useful when one starts getting drawn back into ego stories after a moment of clarity has been realized. I do know what you mean. Sometimes after experiencing that oneness I described above, the mind...

It is equally problematic to get hung up on a pointer itself, such as there is only now, as it is to get distracted by a description of the process of unfoldment. One can think about any pointer ad infinum and still not experience clarity beyond thought. Agreed. Simplify, simplify, down to nothing ...

but all of these happen simultaneously. The implication of this is that one shouldn't judge oneself as to what "stage" they are in. Important point. Another pitfall, or the pitfall that I thought you were referring to in addition to what Web said, is that we start looking for ourselves in time agai...

Hoping to find the truth of ourselves in any thought or feeling that moves through us is like trying to measure the expanse of an open sky by using a breeze that's passing through it. Enjoyed them all Web, especially this one. I will check out the site. Reminds me of one of Kiki's helpful posts: "i...
