Re: Staying in or Entering the Now while Using the Mind

As I understand it, the part of the mind which is engaged in intellectual activities is is the 'intellect' which is not the 'mind activity ' which ET refers to. I am also a software engineer , and I don't think doing complex mental works hinders the NOW. Am i fully into the work while am I doing it?...

Re: Confused.

May I recommend Osho . His books are a tonic for a lot of problems.
Be in love , don't become a lover.
Be in friendliness , not in friendship .

Re: Adya interview

Thanks onceler for the link. I really loved it. Adyashanti really helped me focus on one question which I was avoiding since long.
"Why do I want enlightenment?"

Re: Who Truly Beliieves in Enlightnment? Is it sensationalized?

Well said , Shappy except that I don't quite agree with the last part Also, none of us on this site are enlightened. Some may have an understanding of their true nature but that is completely different from the embodiment of true nature. Some may even have embodied their true nature and have seen fi...

Re: Everyone Is Just Waiting: Dr. Seuss got it right

Excellent poem. Thanks Suzanne for posting it.
For me , 'Long-scale waiting' as ET would have called it(or has called) is easier to detect . But 'Small-scale waiting' isn't very obvious.
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
...
I wait everyday :)

Re: what was that?(tolle's effect???)

Tikey, I really enjoyed your story. ET says , allow the harsh words of others to pass through as if there is nobody. I have tried it and am trying it. At first , something is diminished inside (exactly as ET says) ; and then something grows when the words have passed over. That sense -"I am still the...

Re: Getting Rid of Your Shadow

I was reading Osho yesterday and he said at one place : "A person may 'know' everything about enlightenment , but still remain unenlightened and another person may not have even heard of enlightenment , but still become enlightened". I think , he was referring to his mother who was a simple,illitera...

Re: Getting Rid of Your Shadow

I'd love to not be but sometimes I realize that I'm beginning to be obsessed by my ego. Something arises, a feeling or thought, and I automatically recognize it: oh, it's again my ego. And the question, probably posed several times on this forum, for which I'm sorry but was too impatient to spot th...

Re: Marriage and Diminished Ego

Surrender isn't about whether or not you act in a given circumstance; it is about resistance or acceptance of the conditions at hand. It is not so much an external acquiescence as it is an internal recognition that the conditions existing in this, or any, moment are valid expressions of life in for...

Re: work situation

Yes, I can relate to that. Even I browse this forum not quite openly at office . Because I am not really ready to answer anybody about it. I guess it's all the image we have created of ourselves to confirm to the society.
Honestly I wouldn't know how to react in the situation you find yourself in.

Re: Marriage and Diminished Ego

What do you guys do when say , you have a 'life situation' to which you are quite surrendered knowing that there is not much you can do about it , but your partner isn't ; constantly asking you to 'do something' about it. You can't point that out to her/him , bacause obviously that is going to make ...

Welcome Rob to the board .
Do people have more experiences with other books recommended by Eckhart Tolle?
I have read one of his recommended books - Awareness by Anthony de Mello. It is quite good.

I have copied your entire post . Your words resonated with me . Thanks so much. Just a question : Whe...
