Re: Only 80% thoughts gone after enlightenment?

In my opinion, the concept of “enlightenment” should be scrutinized, not thinking. The more worrisome part of thinking, to me, is not the ratio of thought to silence but the quality of ones thought. Are you lost in thought, letting thinking happen to you, or do you have agency and some control over ...

Wild Wild Country

Anyone watching this documentary on Osho? It’s on Netflix and is beyond fascinating. Only saw the first part and not sure where it’s going, but it seems fairly even handed......it has a lot of original footage.

Re: Eckhart Bashing - Bring It On

I think he’s just an ordinary human being who happened to have a powerful mystical experience. One many associate with ultimate freedom, a viewpoint he certainly promoted....he looks like someone who started the ball rolling, but it got bigger and more complex than he expected, now he wishes he coul...

Re: What does oneness mean to you?

Thanks, great description. Funny thing is, I don’t really desire a sense of oneness or other perceptional awareness shifts like I used to, my ordinary awareness is quite satisfactory the way it is. I’m not suffering on a daily basis, that’s good enough for me! Yes, I hear what you are saying. It’s ...

Re: How might we think of Jesus?

I’ve actually been thinking about what Jesus represents quite a bit lately, in the midst of so many confusing messages about what Christ represents politically and culturally. It seems everyone wants a piece of him and bends his message to extremes to represent their viewpoint. To me Christ’s messag...

Re: What does oneness mean to you?

Cool. I see what you’re saying. Obviously I don’t know what oneness means, I should have said that rather than saying I haven’t experienced it. I do feel whole sometimes, actually quite often.

Re: What does oneness mean to you?

I’ve never experienced it I don't think any of us has, at least not in the fantastical way one imagines. But, I'm sure we have all (including you) experienced fleeting glimpses of it, no ? In the midst of the daily chaos, surely you've retreated into it, no ? When I was pretending to be spiritual I...

Re: What does oneness mean to you?

I like a lot of these answers, they are very good. But actually oneness doesn’t mean anything to me personally. I’ve never experienced it and agree with WW that we are meant to have a seperate experience on this earth.

Re: Connecting Tolle teachings with Christian sermons

In my experience with Christian groups, I think there is a good chance they will feel threatened.....I don’t know how they would act on that threat. Again, in my experience, when I went off the dogma rails, it was more passive aggressive, we’ll love you even more, brother, until you are less confuse...

Re: Eckhart's knowledge of gradual awakening...

It’s interesting, I too have tremendous respect for Tolle, but at some point I had to walk away from his teachings and examine my core beliefs about enlightenment and awakening. This quitting of the spiritual search, after roughly 30 years, was the most life altering, profound thing I have done. It ...

Re: Connecting Tolle teachings with Christian sermons

Ha, yes. I remember when my daughter was like that. She tried to figure herself out and asked a thousand questions. I think she was also seeing if we were on the same page. She’s 21 now and a little more independent and perhaps more sure of what she wants. I kinda miss it. It pushes you. Enjoy.
