Re: Francis Bennett on Life in Form

To me the Buddhist concept of emptiness is a better conceptual model of how it is really supposed to work than much of the non-duality ideas I've read. Everything is empty of inherent (standalone, separate) existence including emptiness itself. All exists in relation to something else and not at all...

Re: The Obsession with Wealth Creation

Interesting article on how the failed and failing economic systems of the past and present can have their postive points retrofitted into The Economics of Star Trek.

Re: The Obsession with Wealth Creation

The problem with all complex systems, they have huge vulnerabilities. Just like our own Minds, financial systems are also prone to self-fulfilling prophecy... I.e "run on the banks". This alone points to the nature self-reference plays in all complex systems. Does a financially system have an emoti...

Re: The Obsession with Wealth Creation

[I would rather characterise "money" as phenomena that arises out of multiplicity of relative simple interactions.... It naturally emergences again due to an increase in complexity. I would argue the opposite. That money is a gross over-simplification of many complex transactions because it is so e...

Re: The Obsession with Wealth Creation

There is a gentleman in the U.S., Daniel Shellbarger aka. "Suelo", who has lived "without money" for more than a decade now. Story HERE Blog HERE If his experience cannot ease your mind of "money anxiety" I don't know what will. But one might begin with an appreciation of the fact that wealth and mo...

Re: What is Love?

Love is the apparent coming together of the absolute and the relative into a new union that transcends both while destroying neither.

And, being beyond language and thought by being so much closer and intimate than they can be, it's dance is stillness and it's music silence.

Re: Ego Formations

In about the fourth 2009 Oprah webinar, Eckhart mentioned that the ego is natural and strong until about age 25-30...that there was no way he could have awakened until about age 30, he said. Lots of young people recognize the deep yearning for spiritual truth, but have this other big engine running...

Re: Self is not a new "me"

And, although ET is a very "sincere" man his realisation is not in the category of Ramana, Nisargadatta, Buddha or Jesus. Ramana and Nisgardatta were pretty "ordinary" folk and not given to the grandiose notions their hangers on liked to pin on them. Can't address Siddhartha Gautama or Jesus as the...

Re: Hologram World

There is no one to play a role. No one to have free will. No one to "own" a personality. And no one to extend a "self" out over a "long period of time". The Amorphous BlobTheory strikes again! If you go to a movie theater and watch a movie you stare at an amorphous screen for an hour or more with f...

Re: Hologram World

So my question is: does a deep experience of nonduality create the ability to play any role you want? Are you free to wake up and be a completely different personality now that you see the personality is just a role in a play? Has anyone had that experience? Of not being limited by biology or condi...

Re: Seeing the whole, seeing a part

I wonder if one way of seeing is "right-er" than another? It seems to me that right thought and right action (doing/thinking the appropriate thing) depend on an accurate sense of the big picture, the whole. It's like asking which is better for one's health -- inhaling or exhaling. If you're not doi...

Do your best here and now and leave the rest.

Past and future are the dusky hinterland of the present, and must therefore receive whatever light they do from it -- not the other way around.

Re: Self is not a new "me"

Sometimes that's the sense I get from nondualists, that the separate self is a hell that needs to be escaped as soon as possible; that somehow human evolution went awry and we screwed up and developed egos. The only desire seems to be to merge back into the One. Perhaps the ego was the development ...
