Re: The Utter Simplicity of This

That also places him in the neo-Advaita group Thanks for the review Andy. There is something to be said for the immediacy of the Neo-Advaita approach, it sometimes can be effective; I've found some of the pointers to be helpful. But it has a "limited shelf life" in my view, as most will need a more...

Re: Illusion....Not!

rachMiel, The statements in my prior post were based on my own direct experience; experiential and intuitive knowing , not just intellectual understanding. I think they adequately address the subject, although they may not be the black and white answers that you were looking for. Reality is paradoxi...

Re: Illusion....Not!

I agree with WW's last comments. The word illusion in spiritual literature is often misunderstood or misused, to suggest that the world and experience have no existence or validity whatsoever. Now here is where language breaks down and gets confusing and why this needs to be experienced directly to ...

Re: Illusion....Not!

Good quotes Andy, I especially like the Max Planck. Einstein had a lot to say about it as well, referring to the human sense of reality as an "optical delusion of consciousness". It's interesting to note that much of Einstein's realizations came out of quiet contemplation, not just science. It sound...

Re: Illusion....Not!

Perhaps someone could help us out and explain how space/matter/time is wholly a by-product of human consciousness? Explanations fail to adequately describe reality, they can only hint or point to it; explanations are for the mind to help it understand and then get out of the way. The mind can only ...

Re: Solitude - dissolution of the teachings

Indeed runstrails. There is only Presence appearing as . The illusion or hypnotic sense of life, suggests that reality and experience are divided up into separate substances and components. The need for teachings, pointers, reminders ends when one is satisfied... in the knowing realization of the un...

Welcome back Kiki. "Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside." ... "Bliss is not something to be got. On the other hand you are always Bliss. This desire [for Bliss] is born of the sense of incompleteness. To whom is this sense of ...

Re: Solitude - dissolution of the teachings

You're welcome Andy. For those that prefer Eckhart's style of language to Advaita/Non-Duality, he is saying much the same thing using different pointers and concepts. The Now is synonymous with: Impersonal Presence/Being/Awareness/Timelessness/Isness. And Being here is not a reference to human being...

Re: Solitude - dissolution of the teachings

What often happens when the search for happiness is directed towards spiritual teachings and teachers is that it becomes another "project" of the separate self. In other words the separate "I" is the one struggling to awaken, to grasp the message, striving to think and do it right. The separate self...

Re: Solitude - dissolution of the teachings

So follow your inner direction and stop. It may just be a phase you are going through, later you may feel drawn back to a teacher or teachings. We all want happiness and peace because it is our true nature. The trouble is we are seeking happiness and peace where it can't be found, but we often don't...

Re: Finding teachers and seeking reassurance

That was very well said Mouse, you echoed much of what I was thinking on the subject. Agreed Andy and Runstrails. Nature is a wonderful teacher, I love to observe and contemplate the natural world; and it is the deep silence (that underlies all sounds), ever-present emptiness, that is the essence of...

Re: Finding teachers and seeking reassurance

I agree with Andy, follow your inclinations. The important think to remember is that you are actually meeting with your Self, the embodiment of truth in what appears as another; so there lies the sacredness. Yes there can be a trap of depending too heavily on a teacher/guru. But there is also a trap...
