Re: Just be

m with this, because i can't understand how to just "be". Here is how I would respond to this question right now... This question, does it appear somewhere? If yes, then where? Some might say - "the question appears in my head". I'd say, sure. And where does the head appear? How would you answer th...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

I believe there is an objective reality that interacts with the human mind/lens. I think I know what you mean and can relate to that. Even that reality though is part of human mind I would say. Everything is. So do you think that before human mind, there was no objective reality? That objective rea...

I believe there is an objective reality that interacts with the human mind/lens. I think I know what you mean and can relate to that. Even that reality though is part of human mind I would say. Everything is. And that's fine, defining whether it is or not does not matter, it's just mechanics. I use...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

But "what it feels like" and "reality" are not necessarily even in the same ballpark. I believe reality is what and how you perceive through this human form. My world/lens here is different and apparently similar to yours over there in many ways. There is no other reality. The brain/acskull and neu...

Re: Rediscovering Little Me

Andy why is there a need to return to "little me" as you call it? To me it sounds like saying, ok we got to the mountain top of figuring out that 2+2=4, now we can return back to knowing 2+2=5. How does this make any sense? Maybe you are saying something else and could clarify?

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

I'll play "I am not everything" and you play "I am everything" and we'll see where it goes. Sound good? Your turn. :-) First, it's not fair, you say "I'm not everything" without any proof and say it's my turn. I guess "life is not fair", so I'll go... Would you agree that every perception has a sub...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

Look around you right now... There is space around and within every object that you see. Within and around any sensation, sound, feeling, object, etc. It's everywhere, Please explain what you mean by space. :-) Obviously you mean this question in the context of this forum. Because if not, as you kn...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

For example, I have a sense of my "self" as a collection of learned/conditioned reflexes that interact with each other and external stimuli to generate feelings, sensations, thoughts, etc. in my brain/body. That is rachMiel's sense of rachMiel, but there's no witness I see, and awareness is only a ...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

Sure maybe "look at the sense of you" is a helpful pointer for some, like yourself for example. In my opinion I can see how some could respond to "look at the sense of you" and say, "here is my sense of myself, within the contour of my body"... So I don't know what is a better pointer, in my opinion...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

I have no doubt about what I am right now. I am the observer, witness and awareness, that is everywhere. Why/how are you certain of this? Why couldn't you be something else than the observer, witness and awareness? A character in the dream of Xenu , to use a silly example? It can be said "I am a Na...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

I take my a-(everything)-gnosticism seriously! ;-) I could say this about pretty much everything: I / just / don't / know (for sure). Do you know, with utter certainty, what you are? I hold a similar view that I don't really know. The realization that the mind perceived is an illusion of sorts give...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

Hi rM, All good questions :D . rachMiel wrote: Reality is reality, regardless of my interpretation. I would say this is not true. There can be no reality 'out there' that is separate from you. All the objects that you consider as reality are appearing to your brain and the brain 'perceives' them as...

Re: Non-dualism, dualism: Does it matter?

It doesn't matter I would say.. The realization of the illusion of what most people refer to as "I", and the correction that happens to that mistake, is said by many spiritual traditions, and in my experience I guess, to affect personal and imppersonal suffering. Not a bad benefit, besides the worth...

Re: how do you experience being?

My take:
Space where everything is seen.
Silence where everything is heard.
Present moment where thoughts appear.
Knowing where bodily feelings are found.
That which we refer to as "I".

Re: What Am I - What Are You?

All of these experiences have no value since they have physical origin, non of them, not a single one of all the people(including your favorite Eben Alexander) can absolutely prove that their brain was completely dead during that experience and that the experience wasn't produced by the brain. And ...
