Re: Nonviolence absolute?

The way this "Script/Story" called "Physical Life" seems to go is that all living "things" seem to dance to the tune of the survival instinct. All do this by using physical force - at its most extreme "Violence". In that vein, is there an essential difference between a tree that invades a lawn and t...

Re: What Am I - What Are You?

There is a Witnessing Presence - infinite and eternal - the essence and the totality of "being". Because of the infinite potential of the Witnessing Presence, an illusion of separation, hypothetically, could arise and from that the hypothetical consciousness of an individual human experience, which ...

Re: The emptiness of the self

All beings experience the essence and the totality of being - all are "enlightened", infinite and eternal. Human minds, because of conditioning and habit, attempt to quantify, label and describe (through language) this experience and to commit the description to memory (which is what the mind does w...

Re: Ashtavakra Gita

Yes - it is possible to experiece the essence and the totality of Being - and that's all the mind needs to know/accept - there is nothing further to know or to do.

Re: Are we insane ?

What HL realized, in that moment, was that the essence of "his" being(the "Witnessing Presence") was far more than the body/mind - it was never "born" and could not be "killed" by his intended act of egoic control. "It" would not be affected by whether the trigger was pulled or not but would simply ...

Re: Are we insane ?

Is it "insanity"? or is that just what happens? 6 years ago HermitLoon sat in a recliner and put the gun in his hand to his right temple. At that moment HL's mind said "it doesn't matter whether "I" pull the trigger or not - because HL is not the body/mind, but rather is the Witnessing Presence of a...

There is a Witnessing Presence - infinite and eternal - the essence of "being".

Re: Noone else just numb due to these teachings?

We come from foreverness and return to foreverness - and in between, with strong doses of the survival instinct and lots of conditioning, the mind/body does its thing.
Acceptance allows a joyful journey.

Re: Living among the unconscious

The mind raises the question: if not consciousness, then what is that essence of being? ... and when dropped by the mind in favor of inquiry by the heart a more full experience of the pointer unfolds. As always 'Loon, gratitude arises for the contribution . Thanks Snowheight. The "essence of being"...

Re: Living among the unconscious

Consciousness is the essence of the Human Experience - there is no one who is not conscious - and yet consciousness is not the essence of being.

Yes Runstrails - it's as if Mooji was here and directly answering Andy's question.
Mooji has a beautiful way of helping the mind to experience(somewhat) the nothingness of the essence of being.

Re: A trick of the mind?

Negation of all that the mind thinks of as reality is the path toward the realization of the essence of being (which is beyond the mind and so cannot be described or even thought of). A pointer from Nisargadatta: Your true home is in nothingness, in emptiness of all content. (487) I can describe you...

Re: What Am I - What Are You?

The essence of the mental concept of "non-duality" implies that separation is an illusion - which is ironic since it depends on the mental concept of "duality" for its description and very existence.

Re: Being & Doing

The great mystery of the "essence of being" is not describable - not knowable by the mind. Most minds, however, insist that anything that is sensed is describable, so they dig into their tool kits of conditioned memory and logic and come up with labels and descriptions that satisfy the survival inst...
