Re: The state of presence, why do we call it that?

The Real exists and is experienced
in
the
gaps
between
the words

in the gaps between the thoughts

In deep, dreamless sleep

Upon the death of the body/mind

Re: Who am I?

Yes Ananda - Spiritual teachers and books and asking the question "Who Am I?" are all very useful only for negation - for a mind to come up with conceptual answers for what "I" is not. Few minds, however, are willing to keep asking the question "Who Am I" until they go beyond the conceptual "I" and ...

Re: if youre aware of being now are you here now?

Thinking and not thinking.
Doing and not doing.
Knowing and not knowing.
Reality and illusion.
Living and dead.

Re: Free Will

"Ego" is the conceptual sense of a sole and separate self, which then becomes the mental "story" of the relationship between all that occurs and that "self".

Re: Nothing that is seen is you, because you are what is seeing

The bubbles do not exist.

Re: Memory

Somewhere in the brain are the memories of the pure experiences of being prior to language - although often hidden under layer upon layer of the virtual memories of language-translated experiences. If possible, remember those early peaceful, joyful experiences - where "self-realization" was not an i...

Re: So how do you realize the truth.

Through negation - by investigating and realizing that which is illusion. Whatever remains is Truth. The Real exists and is of the nature of witness-consciousness. Of course it is beyond the witness, but to enter it one must first realize the state of pure witnessing. The awareness of conditions bri...

Re: What brings you back to presence?

Yes - experiences/thoughts come and go, the witnessing presence is.
"We" are "that".

Re: Practical issue regarding "I" thought

Yes - expressing an authentic consciousness can be socially unacceptable - just ask any 2 year old.
"Fitting in" - "conforming" - doesn't appear to be important to HermitLoon (again, at age 67, a "terrible two year old".)

So what do you think happens at the time of death?
The illusion of separation dissolves.
