Re: Eric Putkonen

This does raise interesting questions....
How best can a forum such as this facilitate awakening?
What place does the quoting of others have in the context of awakening?
Does anyone have real burning issues that can be addressed on a (this) forum?

Re: Revelation

For those who are willing to explore, the following exercise can have tremendous impact: Observe nature without naming it; observe a tree or flower or rocks or lichen or whatever is available. Explore observing without naming. The shape, the texture, the smell, the play of light, the movement in the...

Re: Eckhart and Abraham differences?

Most people are attracted to Abraham-Hicks because they feel lack in their life and A-H appears to offer a 'no-work' solution. If you look at why you want the things you want, they all boil down eventually to the desire to be happy. In the timeless present, where seeking (and all problems) has ended...

Re: Surrender

You may wish to explore the following questions...

Is surrender a choice, a decision, an act?

Do we surrender because it's the wisest choice?

Is there any trace of motive?

In the unfathomable completeness, what meaning has surrender?

The universe as I bubbles with joy at these questions

thought/feeling and the ending of time

Thought is a fabulous tool. Thought is as central to human life as breathing is. Ask yourself a question, and if it's important enough to you, thought will tirelessly seek an answer. Thought found a way to put a man on the moon. Thought can find the means to feed and clothe us all. BUT if you ask th...

Re: Revelation

Hi Onceler What a delightfully honest post http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_13.gif I guess I am making some "progress". That whole thing would have taken me months to get a year ago. Course it has taken me a whole life to get it...each realization is like you are starting over... And tha...

Re: Revelation

Hi Onceler ...they seem to have a far more profound affect and resonance with me than just spiritual talk in the abstraction. You may need to re-examine your use of the word 'abstraction'. What was written above was a simple step-by-step, concrete, do-able exercise - as far from abstract as you can ...

Re: Revelation

Hello Onceler, Second-hand experience in this arena is of no value to me. I only write what is true for me. I guarantee that first-hand experience for you would be far more interesting than any descriptions I can give. Moreover, I see that descriptions can lead another into imagination and away from...

clarifying ego

Ego is a collection of images you have of yourself which you don't realise are just images. Many of the images can be contradictory. Much of the self-help industry is about helping people enhance the positive images and reduce or negate the negative. When there is an insight into the nature of thoug...

Re: Presence does not lead to enlightenment

There is a world of difference between words in the service of perception, and words in the service of concepts.

Re: Presence does not lead to enlightenment

Hi Andy I usually disagree and argue with absolutist statements like yours. I'm not going to do that here, but let me present my stock argument. I would recommend that you don't use stock arguments and investigate afresh. Until you realise that your intellect isn't the tool for investigation you wil...

Re: Presence does not lead to enlightenment

Hi Andy - thanks for the welcome. the simplicity and subtlety of this is easily missed..... there is only the present, so whatever is happening is happening in the present..... enlightenment and the seeking of it are mutually exclusive. I would also like to clarify that one does not get enlightened....

Re: Presence does not lead to enlightenment

maybe you'd like to ponder the following:-

I cannot be vegetarian whilst eating a hamburger

in the same way

I cannot be at peace in the present whilst I am seeking realisation/salvation/enlightenment
