Re: Awakening
You guys are amazing! Going on as strong as ever! Tommy6084: You can't force others to wake up, because you're fighting against yourself. Not only that you can't win, but you will increase suffering. Just observe and have fun. If you feel compelled to poke others, tease them gently. For example, sho...

Re: Why are you on this board?
Direct experience can be misleading. For example, direct experience can lead to many optical illusions.karmarider wrote: Cease to cherish opinion and rely only on direct experience.
But then, what do we have to rely on? Could it be that there's nothing to rely on?

Re: The Double Slit experiment
Humans/Consciousness can be present without being in the same room. The electron shooter produces the electrons in the same way in both cases, but the measuring device changes the behavior when the electron is passing by it. The change is linked to the measuring process. Measurement cannot be done w...

Re: The Double Slit experiment
IMO, this experiment has nothing to do with consciousness (except if everything is consciousness, in which case the experiment is not needed). Human observers were present in both cases and didn't change anything. The observer that they are talking about, the one that detects through which slit the ...

Re: Windmills of Your Mind
Hi Andy, Thank you for your words.
All experiences seem like dreams.
Nevertheless, the body and the mind are as real as awareness; the only difference is in how limited each manifestation is.
IMO, being aware that we exist is only half of the story.
We also exist(ed) when we are not aware we exist.

Re: Windmills of Your Mind
What is it that notices the windmills of the mind? I'm pretty sure the mind is able to analyze the windmills. Would the mind be able to do it without noticing them? But something/somebody is definitely having an intermittent experience of analyzing/noticing; this is miraculous and annoyingly...

Thank you for the lyrics, James.
I remember living like that many times. It can be quite funny, actually - especially from outside.

Not necessarily. The idea that we have to change something keeps the illusion going.wakeupneo wrote:Don't we have to step out?
Nevertheless, if need be, life will find a way to kick you hard out of your current situation.
Possibilities are endless. There is no single path.

Re: Spiritual Inquiry
Thank you Sighclone for suggesting the book.
That chapter did not answer my question, but I may have found an answer in "The Power of Now". ET mentions that one should "consciously enter" the sleep state.

Re: Spiritual Inquiry
Thank you for your reply, James. Indeed, awareness in sleep is different than awareness while awake. The difference is the mind, active or silent. I dare say that in deep sleep we have a very quiet mind - so everybody has easy access to the no-mind state. Also, inanimate objects have awareness as we...

Re: Spiritual Inquiry
The fundamental truth here is that "I" exist or am "Aware"... It is the only constant... I must be that which is always present, not that which comes go... Dear James, Are you able to experience this fundamental truth in deep sleep? I am genuinely interested in this. When I'm awake, awareness seems...

Re: The Two Minds
.......... the mind senses many more "things," including itself. ............ This is a very important point, and I agree with it. Many "teachers" confuse awareness with mind's ability to sense itself. Being the observer of the mind is generally another function of the same mind. Identification wit...

Re: How long can you stay present?
Very good point, Ananda. OK, I need to increase the clarity:
When I wake up, I feel I was absent (not here)...
When I'm in deep sleep, I don't feel anything.
