Re: Ramana Mahrishi in a nutshell

In deep sleep, if you hear a loud sound or someone nudges you, you will wake up. So there is awareness or you would not have been able to react. I wake up only because the brain is still working. Without a working brain, I would not wake up from sleep. This doesn't mean that awareness doesn't exist...

I have seen people quitting their jobs to become Christian monks. As far as I know, none of them returned back to society ....

Re: Ramana Mahrishi in a nutshell

I am referring to quote #7 from the first post. It seems to me that the "knowledge/feeling of existence" is not known for sure all the time. This feeling can disappear even while awake, for example when we are busy with something. Maybe this is where the expression "I got lost in smth..." comes from...

When I'm in deep sleep, I don't know that I am here. Therefore, "being here" is a function of the brain.
What I know is that "I am here sometimes."

Re: Relating with Others

Most of the last posts are basically asking: "Is there free will?"
Tough question.

Re: The Two Minds

Then there is room for the energy of life to express in its own way. There is no predicting how that will express ..... Do you think we can stop the "energy of life" from expressing in its own way? What if the "energy of life" is always expressing itself in absolutely everything - even when we thin...

Re: Whether you do or you don't...

The changes are all only to keep the mind satisfied. That is the illusion - that we're going somewhere because things have changed. Actually, the mind is never satisfied . We may not be going anywhere, but we are doing "something". Side note: Medicinal plants can be more dangerous than drugs from p...

Re: Whether you do or you don't...

If he becomes a doctor, all he is doing is repeating information taught to him along the way. In reality he knows nothing about how the body works or even what the body is. You are good with words, 7w, but you may be taking it too far. Your discussion about doctors suggests that the practice of med...

Re: Whether you do or you don't...

I think you are somewhat wrong, sevenworlds. You are applying population statistical concepts to individuals. For example: exercise, eating, and doctors may or may not help a certain individual, but when consistently applied to a large population - there will be a significant difference for the popu...

Re: Nihilism

Good question. I don't know if acceptance is passive or active.
And I don't think anyone can either reject everything or accept everything. Most of us are probably somewhere in the middle.

I would say that when we are ego-identified we are more selective with regard to which answers and reflections we accept.

Re: a question.....

In a way, there is "someone" writing these posts, but this "someone" is not a separate "creator/investigator". This "someone" is completely integrated with everything around, and is the momentary manifestation of the pulse of life. Just as an example, the answer appeared only because you asked the q...

Re: Thinking too Little

Sounds right, Tony!
What about "having fun?" Most "fun" activities involve very little thinking and almost everybody "wants to have fun."
Are those who "want to have fun" unknowingly looking for awakening experiences?
