Re: Dealing with nerves

I've found release techniques to be very effective in letting go of anxiety, nervousness, compulsive thoughts and emotions and so on. The Sedona method is good; and I have a simple on on my website. I think when it is understood that emotions are a feedback loop between sensations and interpretation...

Re: Story-line

The first of trilogy is a great reminder of awakening. Though I found the premise to be lazy. It doesn't make sense that aliens are using human beings for batteries when it would take far more energy to create and maintain the captive world than it would produce...it would make more sense if the ali...

Re: Ramana Maharishi's Fear Of Death Experience

Ramana Maharshi had an intense experience of death (fear of death or FOD) in his seventeenth year. His own experience of FOD seems to mimic my own experience of FOD at the onset of my own panic disorder over 7 years ago. The main difference between his experience & mine... was he used exposure ther...

Re: Tolle & vedic astrology

He told me a lof of great stuff but he also told me that I will be forced to adopt to a life where I can't move very well, full of mental anguish, and probably my life span will be decreased. This was because I had "malefic planets" and also "Rahu in the 12th house"... That's nonsense. ... if a per...

Allen Carr.

It really was easy and I never looked back.

I suggest the official and full webcast. I know people who've watched partial videos on youtube and have not been successful at quiting.

Re: Judgment

I just saw that WW's post was about the same as mine, but he uses fewer words, and so I discern it to be better than mine. :)

Re: Judgment

I think i've misinterped what Eckhart ment by "be free from judgment", if "I" would never judge how would I know what's funny and not funny, how the body reacts to certain stimulus, how other egos are being run so I can understand them? The way I see it, there is judgment and there is discernment. ...

Re: The real secret is to accept all things?

My understanding of acceptance gelled with this bit of wisdom:

Acceptance is not something you do. It's something you stop doing. You stop resisting.

Re: Depression and Observing the thoughts

I wonder if the seemingly different perspectives on thought are the paradoxes of understanding. It seems to be the case as dijmart pointed out that many of us start with ET and probably come at this from the point of view that thought is "bad" and the mind should be quieted down. At another stage, t...

Re: Depression and Observing the thoughts

Thought is a problem because thought can only operate by creating a division, a separation, between the thinker and the 'outer' world ... this is the nature of thought ... it creates 'duality' and it creates the 'me' as a separate entity called 'ego' ... And as thought main goal is the avoidance of...

Re: Sam Harris - An Atheist guide to Spirituality

I also participate on the Project Reason forum, which was started by Sam Harris. I learned there that atheism and agnostic are different claims. Atheism is about belief--"I don't believe God exists." Agnosticism is about knowledge--"I don't know whether God exists." (The word gnosis means knowledge...

Re: Sam Harris - An Atheist guide to Spirituality

would think the middle way would be agnosticism. It sits in the middle and observes the evidence and arguing of both, (and if you're unafraid the experiential understanding of both or any or all) . If you do this with enough perspectives you get a pretty good idea of the views. So for me, agnostici...

Re: Sam Harris - An Atheist guide to Spirituality

For some time now I've been feeling that what the world needs is a 21st-century spirituality... This is reasonable. Ancient wisdom is vast and I'm sure true but it's ancient and re-interpreted. What's said about the Buddha was written down a 100 years after his death and translated and transcribed....

Re: Sam Harris - An Atheist guide to Spirituality

I was a little put off by his unawareness of his own hypocrisy about beliefs and their impositions on others calm man. I don't know much about the guy. He seemed to be on the atheist icons. There seems to be an atheist trend, which I think is both good because it brings rationality to light, and ba...
